LLOYD WERFT BREMERHAVEN TO BUILD 155-METRE MEGAYACHT FOR THE MAYBACH OCEAN CLUB
The Maybach Ocean Club has officially selected the renowned German shipyard Lloyd Werft Bremerhaven as its shipbuilding partner for its groundbreaking megayacht project “Beyond Horizons.” The strategic partnership was formalised with the signing of an agreement on the morning of 12 June 2026 at the Mercedes-Benz Center of Excellence in Sindelfingen.

The agreement secures the construction slot in Bremerhaven and marks a significant milestone in the technical planning phase. The final shipbuilding contract is scheduled to be concluded by the end of 2026. The commissioning of the 155-metre megayacht is planned for the winter season of 2029/2030.
“Today marks a decisive moment for the Maybach Ocean Club as we move from a pure vision towards realisation,” explains Captain Matthias Bosse, Co-Founder and Managing Director of the Maybach Ocean Club. “Lloyd Werft Bremerhaven brings an extraordinary heritage of German engineering excellence, precision and discretion to this project. Together, we are creating an icon of contemporary luxury at sea.”

Founded in 1857, Lloyd Werft Bremerhaven has demonstrated its exceptional position in global shipbuilding through technologically pioneering megayachts such as Luna and Solaris.
“Our client is pursuing an extraordinary and forward-looking concept for the future of yachting with this community-based model. We see great potential in opening up entirely new market segments and user groups,” says Thorsten Rönner, shareholder and Managing Director of Lloyd Werft.
“For Lloyd Werft, the central challenge is to turn this vision into reality through the highest standards of engineering and manufacturing expertise. This cooperation represents a step into new territory for all partners and demonstrates the immense potential created by combining bold ideas with maritime expertise. Lloyd Werft is ideally positioned through its shareholder structure: with Lürssen and ZECH, we have strong partners at our side. In particular, Lürssen’s decades of experience and international reputation in building the world’s most sophisticated yachts provide an excellent foundation for successfully delivering a project of this scale and innovative character.”

In addition to offering uncompromising luxury, “Beyond Horizons” has been designed with future alternative fuels in mind. Lloyd Werft will equip the megayacht with a hybrid propulsion system that is technically prepared for future operation using methanol (“methanol-ready”). Until methanol becomes more widely available in the maritime sector, the yacht will operate on biodiesel as a transitional solution.
Maybach as a Holistic Lifestyle Brand
Developed by yacht specialist Splendid Sea AG in official partnership with Mercedes-Maybach, the Maybach Ocean Club represents the consistent evolution of the Maybach brand within the ultra-luxury segment. For the first time, the legendary automotive design philosophy of “Sensual Purity” is being transferred on this scale into the maritime world.

The exterior design and more than 4,600 square metres of deck space, created through close collaboration between the Mercedes-Benz design team and the renowned yacht specialists Dölker + Voges Design, feature elongated proportions, sculptural surfaces and distinctive Maybach design elements.
The foundation of the Maybach Ocean Club is based on the founders’ analysis of the modern luxury market: statistically, more than 90 percent of yachts worldwide are used by their owners for no more than four to six weeks per year and remain unused in port for the rest of the time, while crew expenses, continuous energy supply and maintenance requirements continue.

The Maybach Ocean Club therefore deliberately breaks away from traditional sole ownership models and conventional yacht charters, establishing a new form of ultra-luxury at sea. The concept is based on a strictly limited model of shared ownership (fractional ownership): a circle of no more than 300 selected individuals from around the world receives access to an exceptional maritime lifestyle.
Ownership rights are structured through a dedicated foundation established specifically for this purpose, ensuring a long-term and stable ownership structure. Each membership includes approximately four weeks per year on board “Beyond Horizons,” while all administrative, technical and operational aspects are centrally managed.

“The heart of the Maybach Ocean Club is a community of 300 exceptional individuals from around the world, connected through shared experiences at sea,” says Co-Founder Michael Hehn. “The Club embodies Maybach’s design language and commitment to innovation, but it represents something even more fundamental: the opportunity to share extraordinary places, inspiring encounters and unforgettable moments with the people who matter most to us.”
