WELLNESS AT THE HEART OF YACHT DESIGN: BENETTI UNVEILS CLEAR WAVES
A 70-metre megayacht concept developed with LUCA DINI Design & Architecture and The Longevity Suite where design, technology and advanced engineering come together around a new approach to life on board.
Benetti unveils Clear Waves, a 70-metre megayacht concept developed in collaboration with LUCA DINI Design & Architecture and The Longevity Suite, introducing a new vision of onboard wellbeing centred on longevity, innovation and a deeper connection with the surrounding environment.
“If Benetti’s Oasis Deck® has redefined the relationship between the yacht and the sea, with Clear Waves the yacht looks to the sky and to the human being. The starting point is the individual and in particular, the principles of longevity,” explains Sebastiano Vida, Head of Product at Benetti.
The concept is structured around five pillars environment, movement, social connection, mental and spiritual wellbeing, and technology which come together through a holistic approach that places the individual at the centre of the onboard experience.
The Evolution of Space rather than incorporating wellness facilities into a predefined layout, Clear Waves reverses the traditional approach: the yacht itself is designed around the physical and mental wellbeing of those on board.
Wellness is therefore not confined to a single area or moment of the day. Instead, it becomes an integral part of the entire onboard experience, from purified air and enhanced sleeping comfort to carefully studied colour schemes designed for different times of day.
This philosophy extends to the yacht’s architecture. Clear Waves reimagines the traditional spatial arrangement by relocating the wellness area typically positioned on the lower deck to one of the yacht’s most prestigious locations: the upper deck.
Natural greenery frames a dedicated environment incorporating relaxation areas, a food and beverage island, hot and cold water circuits, and advanced treatment technologies.
At the heart of the concept is the Glass Dome, the ultimate expression of technology applied to wellbeing. The monumental 400-square-metre glass structure spans two decks and is designed to be self-sufficient in terms of its energy requirements.
Offering an uninterrupted 360-degree view of the surrounding landscape, the Glass Dome creates a continuous visual dialogue between interior and exterior spaces. Natural light and the surrounding environment become part of the onboard experience throughout the day from sunrise and sunset to the night sky.
More than 60% of the dome’s surface incorporates translucent photovoltaic panels, enabling the structure to generate the energy required for its own operation. Its low-emissivity glass filters infrared radiation and provides protection from UV rays.
Air is continuously filtered, while temperature is regulated through a direct-expansion HVAC system featuring Capacity on Demand technology. The geometry of the dome also contributes to ventilation, activating natural air circulation through the stack effect, complemented by floor-level air intake to minimise direct draughts and maintain a consistent microclimate.
Throughout Clear Waves, every element from light and air to water and sound has been carefully considered to deliver an advanced level of comfort.
“Designing Clear Waves,” says Luca Dini, “meant interpreting the new era of regenerative luxury through the distinctive language of our studio: an ongoing dialogue in which pure architecture and yacht design merge into a single language. We conceived the spaces as a true living ecosystem, where the magnificence of the Glass Dome erases the boundaries between people, the environment and the sea. It is the perfect expression of our vision: turning naval architecture into a sanctuary of wellbeing, where light, proportions and the owner’s quality of life define the shape of the future.”
Longevity at the Heart of the Onboard Experience clear Waves draws on the expertise of The Longevity Suite, bringing a specialised approach to longevity and wellbeing into the yacht environment.
“The aim of this collaboration is to move beyond the traditional concept of onboard wellness and transform time spent on a yacht into an opportunity to continue a journey of prevention, awareness, recovery and self-care,” says Luigi Caterino, CEO of The Longevity Suite.
“Privacy, quality time and personalisation make the yacht a particularly fitting environment for a longevity approach centred on understanding one’s own biology and the ability to influence one’s physical and psychological balance.”
Clear Waves therefore integrates a programme of personalised assessments, biohacking and recovery technologies, including Cryosuite Total Body, Dry Floating, Near Infrared Therapy, Hydrogen-Oxygen Therapy and Revital Chamber.
Together, these solutions are designed to support recovery, energy, relaxation and overall physical and mental wellbeing, transforming the yacht into an environment conceived around both quality of life and quality of time.
Engineering and Propulsion with a Focus on Awareness clear Waves extends its focus on individual wellbeing to the relationship between the yacht and the marine environment.
“The Clear Waves project stems from a profound intuition: if sustainability means taking care of the environment, longevity means taking care of the individual over time,” says Sebastiano Vida.
“From this perspective, sustainability and longevity become two sides of the same coin. The engineering of Clear Waves thus charts a course towards the future, in perfect continuity with our Green Route the research programme through which Benetti has been developing concrete solutions for environmental sustainability for more than twenty years with this project marking a new chapter.”
This approach is reflected in an advanced hybrid propulsion configuration with a dual-fuel system, ready for HVO biofuel and methanol. The solution has already been validated by Lloyd’s Register and developed in collaboration with Meccano Engineering.
An advanced Power Management System coordinates power generation, storage and consumption throughout the yacht, optimising the management of onboard energy.
More than 250 square metres of solar panels contribute to the yacht’s power supply, with a stated capacity of up to 120 kWh. The project also incorporates heat-recovery, water-treatment and emissions-control systems as part of a broader approach to efficiency and environmental responsibility.
