Audemars Piguet hosts Golf Invitational and presents NEW Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar in Yellow Gold
Swiss Haute Horlogerie brand Audemars Piguet hosted its prestigious Golf Invitational event in Dubai for the second time, on 23rd November. Featuring a Dream Team of eight of Audemars Piguet’s world famous golf ambassadors, the private Pro-Am event gave specially invited watch collectors from around the world a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to spend the day with several of the sport’s greatest champions.
Held at The Els Club, where Audemars Piguet is the Official Timekeeper, the Dubai Golf Invitational saw a spirit of friendly rivalry develop among the guests who were captained by one of the following Audemars Piguet ambassadors: Darren Clarke, Victor Dubuisson, Ian Poulter, Henrik Stenson, Peter Uihlein, Lee Westwood, Bernd Wiesberger and Danny Willett. All of them embody the brand’s philosophy ‘To break the rules, you must first master them.’ The 21 year old English Matt Fitzpatrick, who registered nine Top 10 finishes in his rookie 2015 season on the European Tour including his victory at the British Masters, was invited to complete the field.
“Audemars Piguet is proud to be hosting the second Golf Invitational in Dubai as part of our international series of private events. The parallels between golfing and watchmaking are clear: both are arts of precision and require dedication and a relentless drive for pushing boundaries. Within each golfer beats the heart of a watchmaker, with self-control, meticulous time management and a shared love of perfection – and of course performance,” said François-Henry Bennahmias, CEO of Audemars Piguet.
During the event, the Manufacture presented its new Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar in Yellow Gold, shown for the first time in Dubai prior to its official launch at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) this coming January. Highlighting its technical expertise, Audemars Piguet also showcased the Royal Oak Concept Laptimer Michael Schumacher, launched earlier this year.
These timepieces underline Audemars Piguet’s commitment to constant innovation and contemporary mechanics, whilst remaining true to the beauty and the brilliance of classic-time watchmaking.
With the Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar in Yellow Gold, Audemars Piguet honours the watch design that broke the conventional rues of watchmaking when it was introduced in 1972 by choosing yellow gold, the most iconic precious metal in history, for the case. Meanwhile, the launch of a new Perpetual Calendar movement demonstrates its ability to constantly refine and improve the performance of classical complications.
“For us, this was the ideal opportunity to showcase our Geometry of Time, merging classical with contemporary, and highlighting our know-how,” added François-Henry Bennahmias.
