SHERAKHAN: THE STUNNING 70-METRE SUPERYACHT THAT EFFORTLESSLY MAKES YOU FEEL AT HOME

In a superyacht charter market saturated with homogenous contemporary yachts, 69.7-metre Sherakhan stands out for her character, style and “homely” ambience. They just don’t build them like this anymore.

Certified to accommodate up to 26 charter guests, attentively cared for by her 20 dedicated crew – most of whom have been on board for many years – Sherakhan has a unique style best described as “relaxed, timeless luxury”. With a significant interior refit and refresh completed in 2017, this is a superyacht on a mission to entertain and impress.

yacht with soul

Unlike some of the sparsely designed, severe interiors that can be found on contemporary superyachts, many of the repeat charter clients who keep returning to Sherakhan praise the relaxed setting and outstanding crew as top reasons for why they keep coming back.

Whether it is to celebrate a special family get-together, a gathering of two-dozen close friends or a showstopping corporate event, few yachts can create a setting as remarkable as Sherakhan.

Stealing the show for most outstanding social space onboard has to be her double-height dining room with galleried atrium, skylight courtesy of the glass-bottomed sundeck Jacuzzi and seating for all 26 guests at a single, spectacular dining table.

The colour palette is calm and neutral, with creams and tan-coloured wood allowing the natural textures and tones to harmonise. The 13 ensuite cabins are generously proportioned, including a full-beam master suite.

Sherakhan’s choice of guest deck areas is sizeable, from the super-sized wicker seating on the main deck or the many loungers on the large foredeck to the stellar sundeck with its 18-person Jacuzzi, wet bar and barbecue, dining tables and multiple sun loungers.

Fun is at the heart of Sherakhan’s operation, and she has a garage full of toys and watercraft to satisfy even the most thrill-seeking of guests. Alongside a pair of 7.3-metre tenders, there are three Waverunner jetskis, wakeboards, surfboards, a number of inflatable towables and, perhaps the most popular of all, an 8-metre custom-made slide for the ultimate Instagrammable experience.

Wellness features are high on the list of priorities for many guests when it comes to a luxury #yacht charter. Sherakhan will not disappoint, with a full wellness suite including a beauty salon, massage room, gym and sauna.

A unique history

Originally built in 1965 as a maritime school vessel, the former Prinses Margriet was converted to a luxury superyacht between 2002 and 2005 thanks to the vision of her owner, Jan Verkerk. A passionate hospitality and entertainment entrepreneur with a particular expertise in running and owning a number of boats and yachts in his native Netherlands.

Maintaining the vessel’s beautiful classic 1960s lines and style, Verkerk upgraded the interior with Rijntjes Interior Design and carried out a complete technical overhaul. The yacht made a significant impact on the luxury charter yacht scene, and has been a regular fixture in the most popular charter grounds ever since.

World cruising

Currently fully booked during a long-term charter in the Red Seafor the summer 2019 season, Sherakhan can usually be found in the Mediterranean during the summer season and the Caribbean over the winter. However, she is fully capable of exploring more remote areas and has many circumnavigations under her belt. Sherakhan has visited the likes of Greenland and Antarctica, and charterers looking to take a comfortable luxury platform off the beaten track can rest assured that her stable hull with its deep draft will offer a smooth and relaxing ride.

Charter rates

When it comes to choice of charter superyachts on this scale, there are just a handful of options that offer guest capacity, level of comfort and service like Sherakhan. She is extremely competitively priced compared to other yachts in this exclusive arena, priced at €425,000 per week (summer-rate), plus the standard “extras” such as fuel and provisions (which depend on a charterer’s cruising plans and personal preferences). Combine this with her potential for out-of-the-ordinary cruising grounds, and Sherakhan makes an exceptional choice for an unforgettable superyacht charter.
