Watchmaking Exhibition at The Dubai Mall
From 16 to 20 September 2014, the eminent Saxon watch manufactory A. Lange & Söhne is hosting its third Middle East horological exhibition at The Dubai Mall. The “Precision Beyond Accuracy” themed show reflects the company’s continuous quest for perfection. It becomes evident in handcrafted timepieces featuring the highest degree of rate accuracy, optimal legibility and ultra-precise adjustability.
The exhibition offers an educational and inspiring insight into the realm of haute horlogerie and provides visitors the opportunity to become immersed in the intricacies of precision watchmaking. An A. Lange & Söhne engraver will present her craft live every day and guests can tour the stand learning about the rich brand history and its many mechanical inventions. Its pursuit of “precision beyond accuracy” will be captured in the impressive display of A. Lange & Söhne’s moon-phase watches.
Since the presentation of the first collection of wristwatches almost 20 years ago, Lange engineers have developed no fewer than 15 manufacture calibres with moon-phase displays. The latest of them is the RICHARD LANGE PERPETUAL CALENDAR “Terraluna” presented at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie in January this year. The patented orbital moon-phase display of this timepiece is a ground-breaking development. The changing constellation of the moon relative to the earth is depicted on its movement side with peerless accuracy. This novelty has established a new benchmark in fine watchmaking. Its mechanism is indeed so accurate that it can run for over one thousand years before it deviates from the actual lunar cycle by one day.
As well as RICHARD LANGE PERPETUAL CALENDAR “Terraluna”, several other 2014 novelties are on display. These include the new pink gold edition of the LANGE 1 TOURBILLON PERPETUAL CALENDAR, which combines two classic complications with the iconic design of A. Lange & Söhne’s most famous watch family and the new GRAND LANGE 1 MOON PHASE, with its solid gold lunar disc taking centre stage, more prominently displayed. Also showcased is the new 1815 TOURBILON which for the very first time unites the stop-seconds mechanism for the tourbillon with the Zero-Reset function, making it possible to stop and set the new watch with one-second accuracy, amongst others.
“We are excited to be hosting our third watchmaking exhibition in the region and to share the intricacies of fine Saxon horological engineering with visitors and enthusiasts. The high level of expertise required to craft each and every timepiece is illustrated by the live engraving, and with “Precision Beyond Accuracy”, we hope to showcase a story, a story of not only our history and accolades, but also a story of the brand values – and precision is really at the heart of our philosophy,” said Ramzi Nael, A. Lange & Söhne Brand Director Middle East & India.
A. Lange & Söhne strives to increase mechanical precision to the limits of feasibility, all the while staying true to the exacting standards of fine craftsmanship and engineering excellence. The expertise of the product developers at A. Lange & Söhne, and in this case, their fascination with astronomical complications, is testament to the manufactory’s commitment to never stand still by constantly pushing the boundaries of technical advancement in the field of precision watchmaking.
