Van der Valk delivers Jangada Second Yacht in new Continental Three Range
Van der Valk Shipyard in the Netherlands has launched the 25-metre Jangada, the second motoryacht in its Continental Three. The design was realised in a close cooperation with Nick Top, Guido de Groot and the experienced owner. Together they have created a highly distinctive look which combines an overall modern appearance with subtle classic touches.
Jangada is a fine example of the myriad options available for Van der Valk owners in general and for the Continental Three series in particular. For example, Jangada is fitted with the Volvo Penta IPS system, a joystick-operated pod-type boat drive system with counter-rotating forward-facing propellers. Yet the Continental Three series is also perfectly suited to a conventional shaft driven propulsion system.
In a similar vein, the all-aluminium Jangada has a semi-displacement hard chine, moderate V-shaped hull while future Continental Three owners might also opt for a fast displacement (round bilged), aluminium planing (hard-chine, moderate V hull design) or steel full displacement (hard-chine or round bilged) version.
The interior of Jangada was designed by Belgian designer Nick Top (appointed by the owner) and Guido de Groot Design. The foundations are whitewashed English oak and clean, straight lines, with a wealth of thoughtful details and a very open feeling.
The yacht’s layout and GA was established by the owner and Nick Top, with advice from Guido de Groot. Automatic sliding doors connect the saloon from the spacious aft deck area. A floating polished stainless steel stairway leads from the saloon up to the helm station and flybridge deck. The dashboard features both perforated full-grain leather and spotless rapello suede, produced by Moore & Giles from the finest hides and upholstered into an unprecedented cockpit console.
The main deck forward accommodates the day head, galley and crew quarters. The crew quarters comprise two cabins, a bathroom and a crew mess. An illuminated stairway grants access to the lower deck areas, which are divided into four cabins: the full-beam master with two walk-in wardrobes, the VIP suite, and two guest cabins. Each includes an ensuite bathroom, ensuring maximum privacy for owner and guests.
Jangada’s outside spaces are particularly impressive. The spacious aft deck features a large dining area with a small pantry, and provides plenty of shade thanks to the extended flybridge awning. The rest of the flybridge deck is uncovered and includes a U-shaped dining area, a wet bar with grill, sink, fridge and ice-maker, and a large sun bed forward of the two-seat outdoor helm position. The aft section comprises an Opacmare crane with a capacity of 600 kg and houses both a 4.5-metre tender and a PWC.
