Sanlorenzo 52Steel: M/Y Seven Sins

The first 52 Steel, christened Seven Sins by her Belgian owner during the ceremony in January, wraps five-decks of consummate luxury within timelessly elegant exterior lines drawn in collaboration with Officina Italiana Design. Examples of Sanlorenzo Superyacht’s dedication to maintaining the brand’s reputation for refined features, elegance and technical innovation abound–with the latter immediately evident from the moment one steps off the dock and boards Seven Sins at the stern.

Through the louvered transom plate the first teasing glimpse of the yacht’s tender is caught, while lateral shell doors to port and starboard hint at the transformative nature of this area. During a stately and eminently comfortable cruise to their chosen anchorage, guests enjoy a plethora of different exterior entertainment spaces in which to relax, dine, party or socialize: from the enormous sundeck–complete with bar, hot tub, dining and lounge areas, to the secluded privacy of the foredeck solarium, or indeed any of the aft terraces. Upon arrival, yet more opportunities are theatrically presented as the 52 Steel’s stern opens like the petals of a blossoming flower, providing guests on board–and those on neighbouring yachts–the opportunity to witness an extraordinary spectacle.

After the transom plate is raised, the garage is flooded and the tender slips gracefully out. Meanwhile, the lateral terraces are opened and a section smoothly lowers down from overhead not only completing the floor of a vast teak-soled Beach Club, but also revealing the transparent bottom of the swimming pool above. While occupants of the pool bathe luxuriantly in the cockpit, the Beach Club and fully customized full-beam gymnasium below are bathed in a mesmerizing natural light, projected by the sun’s rays shifting playfully through the water. This dramatic conversion of the flooding tender garage into a prime waterfront salon was made possible by the extraordinary expertise of the Sanlorenzo Superyacht Technical Department.

The discerning nature of Sanlorenzo’s clients has been cleverly reflected in the very DNA of the 52 Steel’s design too, which is apparent in features like the yard’s signature dark tinted glazing and the privacy afforded those in the cockpit while berthed in a marina– being shielded from those on the dock by the aft pool. Another vital strand of the Sanlorenzo DNA is the bespoke philosophy of tailoring each yacht to the individual owner’s personality, as the interior of Seven Sins testifies. Sole to ceiling glazing in the two salons, one on the main deck and another on the bridge deck, naturally highlights the contemporary and comforting interior design while also ensuring guests are fully immersed in the yacht’s surrounding environment even when indoors. Low cabinetry in the open plan main salon subtly partitions the space’s generous proportions into intimate lounge areas, while the vantage point of the dining area in the upper deck salon provides sweeping panoramas.

From the sensational main deck lobby, where a glass exhibition case enclosed within the Carraramarble staircase displays the owner’s chosen artwork, guests descend to their accommodation on the lower deck where two VIP and two sumptuous en-suite guest cabins can be found, whilst a 6th guest cabin is located on the bridge deck. With the technical department, having under taken exhaustive studies to reduce noise and vibration throughout the yacht, tranquillity reigns in these cabins and restful repose is assured. The owners meanwhile benefit from a suite of staterooms on the main deck that include a private office, colossal full-beam cabin and an en-suite that is so artfully sculpted it is appropriately dressed in marble sourced from the same area Michelangelo carefully selected his stone from.

While cruising guests aboard Seven Sins guests will be hosted in 6 cabins and attentively attended to by 10 crew members, with the yacht’s layout inventively designed to ensure both service and operational duties may be conducted without unnecessary guest interaction. All crew areas, including accommodation, galley, services pantries, wheelhouse and technical areas located in the tank deck exhibit the vast practical experience gained by Sanlorenzo in almost 60-years of yacht production and hundreds of successful deliveries. Propelled by two powerful MTU 12V4000 M63 engines and traditional shaft drives, carefully researched naval architecture contributes to the 52 Steel’s impressive 17.5 knot top speed, 15 knot cruising speed and extensive 4000-mile range.

Setting new standards in the steel and aluminium yacht sector, Seven Sins–the largest yacht launched to date by Sanlorenzo–will be available for viewing during her world premiere at the forth coming Monaco Yacht show held between the 27th and 30th September.
