ROLEX SWAN CUP: MEDIA UPDATE
The opening two days of racing at the 23rd Rolex Swan Cup have delivered a compelling mix of conditions, with fluctuating wind strengths testing crews across the fleet. Despite the changing breeze, spirited and highly competitive racing has unfolded among the 170 Swan yachts taking part in this prestigious regatta.
The diverse fleet is principally divided into four categories: Maxis, comprising yachts over 60 feet; Cruiser/Racers, featuring modern German Frers designs ranging from 42 to 58 feet; Classics and Legacy yachts, representing earlier designs by renowned naval architects German Frers, Ron Holland and Sparkman & Stephens; and the ClubSwan One Design classes, including the ClubSwan 50.
While the one-design fleets have contested a series of demanding windward/leeward races, the majority of competitors have completed two coastal courses through the spectacular waters of the Maddalena Archipelago, combining close competition with one of the Mediterranean’s most striking sailing landscapes.
With two days of racing remaining, competition remains intense as crews continue their pursuit of class honours at one of the most celebrated events on the international yachting calendar.
