Princess Yachts announces the launch of the all new Y72 Flybridge Motor Yacht to join the sophisticated Y Class family

Princess Yachts are delighted to announce the launch of the all-new Princess Y72, who becomes the latest addition to the sophisticated Y Class range, delivering a new level of design, luxury, interior ambience and space alongside stunning performance and technology.

The Y72 joins the award-winning Motor Yacht range, accompanied by her sister yachts, the latest Y78, the triumphant Y85, and the highly anticipated flagship of the range, the Y95 due to launch in 2022. Designed by the Princess Design Studio in collaboration with naval architects Olesinski and Italian design house, Pininfarina, the Y72 encapsulates the quality and design language as seen on larger yachts in the range and takes it to the next generation.

The Y72, taking influence from her larger sister the Y85, is available in a selection of different timber finishes options with extended teak appointed as standard. Galley worktops are supplied in Quartz and all bathrooms feature formed solid surface worktops, with floors in either solid surface or in optional marble, granite or quartz.

Antony Sheriff, Executive Chairman & CEO, Princess Yachts said “I am immensely proud of the Y72 which represents the “next generation” of Princess luxury yachts. She has it all: 34 knot performance, beautifully laid out and spacious living areas, and a luxurious fitout that underlines the extraordinary hand-built quality and impeccable design detail created by our 3,000 craftspeople in Plymouth. Above all, her exterior design brings striking simplicity and sculptural elegance that stands alone in the market. Rather than crowd her with dozens of aggressive twodimensional design elements, we have focussed on meticulously surfaced and sculpted three dimensional forms that are astonishing to see in real life. She is unmistakably a Princess, but taken to another level.”

Design

Instantly recognisable as a member of the Y Class, the Princess Y72 features the very latest in Princess exterior design and interior finishes. Featuring beautifully sculpted exterior forms, she is fitted with expansive full-length hull windows, also seen on the Y95. Indoor and outdoor living areas are optimised to create sociable yet practical spaces.

The Y72 is designed for outdoor living, with an optional extended hardtop with electric opening louvered roof section or glass panel, to allow the sunlight in as you embark on your voyage. The flybridge is the perfect place to entertain loved ones. Her layout is comparable to that of larger Y Class yachts, offering two seating areas and aft sunpad. The large U-shaped dining area, appointed with handcrafted teak table, is situated opposite a fully equipped wetbar with electric barbecue, sink and drawer fridge, creating the ideal space to enjoy al-fresco dining. The aft sunpad can also be replaced with three sunbeds or optional crane to lift and stow a Williams Sportjet 395 or equivalent tender.

Andy Lawrence, Design Director, Princess Yachts, said: “In the Y72 our design teams have established a new direction in the evolution of the Y class exterior design language, focussing on the development of refined, sophisticated surfaces in every area to generate a uniquely clean overall aesthetic. The interior form has been evolved gently and confidently from the Y85, building on the results that only Princess are capable of through the in-house capabilities of our joinery and upholstery teams. The result is a richly layered, intricate yet calming interior design. Having consulted with and listened to many of our clients, we have pushed ourselves to get the most out of this platform in terms of actual real world usability. With the Y72, we are challenging the norm in smaller yet still incredibly innovative ways.”

Moving forward of the flybridge, the bow area offers a U-shaped seating area and sunpad, allowing guests’ to experience the surrounding vista. An aft-mounted, raise/lower bathing platform to accommodate and deploy a Williams Sportjet395 or a Seadoo Spark (or equivalent) becomes an ideal base to enjoy watersports.

The spacious main deck saloon is once again designed for sociable living. The cockpit seamlessly connects to the main saloon via a sliding patio door opening to starboard, with hinge up window above the aft galley bar top, seamlessly integrating the two areas and allowing the outside, in. Upon entering, you are met with the dining area and well-equipped open plan galley, including an island bar with optional stools for informal occasions. Moving forward sits the U-shaped seating area with Princess Design Studio coffee table featuring a smoked grey glass top and a sculpted hardwood base. An additional sofa is positioned to port. The dual helm station with Bőning monitoring and controls for all engine instrumentation is complemented by a raised forward L-shaped sofa, creating an excellent look out spot. On-board entertainment is provided by a 55” UHD LED TV that can be raised and lowered electronically, plus a DVD and Blu-ray system complemented with a Naim audio system also fitted in the flybridge and Master Stateroom as standard.

Forward on the lower deck, six guests can enjoy three beautifully appointed guest cabins filled with light from the full-length hull glazing. A dedicated staircase leads from the main deck to the full-beam owner’s stateroom amidships, via a private lobby area connected to the saloon. The sophisticated owner’s stateroom is furnished with a sofa, dressing area and vanity desk wrapped and stitched in Livorno Stone leather for a contemporary finish. Luxurious surroundings exude from the owner’s stateroom with architecturally inspired feature panels, fresh linen wallcoverings and a bronze tint mirror to compliment the scheme. An additional en-suite cabin with two single beds is positioned aft for crew or occasional guests.

Performance

The all-new Princess Y72 is fitted with powerful twin MAN V12 engines – either 1400mhp or 1650mhp variants – the latter powering the Y72 up to 34 knots†. Available with gyro or fin stabilisation, Princess’s pioneering deep-V hull design, developed with world-renowned naval architects Olesinski, is the foundation to this unique performance
