PANERAI EXCLUSIVELY DEBUTS THE LUMINOR QUARANTA CARBOTECH™ PAM01526 AT SALÓN INTERNACIONAL ALTA RELOJERÍA MEXICO
Panerai presents the new Luminor Quaranta Carbotech™ PAM01526, in a world premiere that will take place at the 2024 Salón Internacional Alta Relojería México (SIAR). Designed for a sporty and assertive look, PAM01526 captures the distinctive aesthetic of the Luminor in a smaller dimension, retaining the Maison’s signature elements – the recognizable crown protecting device with lever, sandwich dial and solid lugs – as well as high technical standards.
“To celebrate the 2024 Salón Internacional Alta Relojería México, we are excited to unveil the new Luminor Quaranta Carbotech™ PAM01526. Catering to the evolving needs of our clientele, it is designed to be remarkably light with enhanced wearability and durability. A significant milestone in our journey, combining our timeless heritage with our manufacture’s advanced technical expertise” says Jean-Marc Pontroué, CEO of Panerai. For the first time ever, the Luminor Quaranta will feature a Carbotech™ case, a material renowned for its lightweight and robust nature, crafted from carbon fibers. The manufacturing process of Carbotech™ involves compressing carbon fiber sheets at a precise temperature and high pressure along with PEEK (Polyether Ether Ketone), a technical polymer that binds the composite, enhancing its strength and longevity. The resultant Carbotech™ plates boast superior mechanical properties and performance in terms of strength-to-weight ratio, enabling very comfortable ergonomics while being resistant to tough wear conditions. Excelling in resistance to external forces and corrosion.
Carbotech™ is 80% lighter than steel, 73% lighter than ceramic and 64% lighter than titanium. The uneven, matt black surface, which varies according to the cutting of the material, lends every singular watch a slightly different appearance, giving each piece a unique character. PAM01526 is paired with a matte green sandwich dial for a sophisticated yet dynamic appearance, intersecting customer’s appeal for this particular colour. The white SuperLumiNova® X1 on the dial and hands glow green in the dark, maintaining legibility in low light conditions. At its heart lies the automatic P.900 movement, renowned for its reliability and with a 3-day power reserve. The P.900 is an automatic caliber that integrates expansive function within the confines of remarkably streamlined proportions. Measuring 12½ lignes (28mm) in diameter and only 4.2 mm thick, the movement is among the slimmest automatic calibers in the Panerai portfolio. The energy necessary to accumulate a power reserve of three days is delivered by a bidirectional oscillating weight and stored in a single barrel. Its balance wheel, oscillating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, is securely fixed in position by a balance cock. The caliber is equipped with a stop-second function that enables precise time setting. A see-through sapphire crystal and titanium DLC open case back allows a view of the P.900 movement. Remarkably, the watch’s total weight is less than 100 grams, making it exceptionally lightweight for everyday wear.
Water resistant up to 30 BAR (~300 meters) – a first for a Luminor Quaranta model – this watch has been rigorously tested, subjecting it to a pressure up to 25% greater than the guaranteed water resistance value to ensure it meets Panerai’s stringent standards. For 360° versatility, the Luminor Quaranta Carbotech™ PAM01526 features the innovative PAM Click Release System on its straps — a primary rubber military green strap and a secondary crafted from calf leather, paying homage to Panerai’s designs from the 1960s.
