New Feadship CID ready to explore

CID was launched on Monday 15 May in the presence of the client, who had visited the Feadship yard in Aalsmeer on many occasions and thoroughly enjoyed overseeing progress on the build and being involved in his Feadship’s development. The launch party included a maiden tour of the local Dutch canals, and the client also intends to take part in two days of sea trials in the North Sea and around the Wadden islands.

Pacific bound

After her delivery, CID will explore the Fjords and the Mediterranean. The coming winter she will reconnoitre Mexico’s west coast and spend the rest of the summer on the Baja California Peninsula. The yacht’s size allows CID to fit into berths in shallow areas, while her excellent seakeeping and top speed of 20 knots will allow the client to swiftly move between new adventures. This new Feadship’s design was partly determined by her anticipated use. The naval architecture & exterior design went hand in hand, resulting in a contemporary Feadship and a perfect marriage of function and form. The giant windows, for instance, offer spectacular looks while also allowing everyone on board to experience the surroundings in the best possible way, not only from the main lounge and master stateroom but also from the four guest suites on the lower deck.

Client driven

CID is intended as a boat for having fun with friends, many of them have yachts of their own. While the yacht will carry a six-strong crew to ensure Feadship standards of service to those who join him on board, the client will be at the helm much of the time. With this in mind, there is a fixed bimini on the flybridge to give shade when driving CID from this location.

This top deck flybridge is the largest in terms of length ratio ever built on a Feadship, reflecting the fact that this will be the social hub. A giant table seats sixteen people in style, one of five different al fresco dining zones on CID. There are two reclinablesunlounger areas on this deck plus a large pop out TV. The off-board pleasures of the surrounding waters are easily accessible via hydraulic swim platform with swim ladder, and CID carries two tenders to maximise the client’s options for picking up guests.

Practical and cool

The interior is geared to practical use rather than gilded edges, all within a sophisticated jacket. There are wooden floors throughout the main deck (using the same design that the client saw during a visit to Feadship TV), a giant television and a big screen projector in the main lounge so that guests watch can two sports events simultaneously.

While taking these bespoke use-based factors into action, Bannenberg& Rowell Design has successfully designed a crisp and simple architectural interior palette of oak, walnut and wenge, taking advantage of the 2.45m headroom in the main saloon and associated expansive glazing. Marty Lowe, the client’s long-time interior designer, oversaw the selection of soft furnishings, loose furniture and decorative objects, all of which have been combined to produce a calm, pale West Coast vibe.
