CNB YACHT BUILDERS: A PERFECT WORLD CRUISER

The CNB 62 is poised to become the latest success from CNB Yachts. Three units have already been sold and the first hull is currently being fitted out for her owner.

There are still a few weeks to go before the eagerly awaited delivery of the new CNB 62 this spring. The first hull has just been delivered to Aquileia on the Italian Adriatic, where CNB is producing in the state-of-the-art Solaris shipyard, which has a capacity of 26,000 square meters. The first three CNB 62’s have been ordered from plans. Each of these customers will be setting sail with their CNB 62 before the end of the year. Vincent Arnaud, Brand Director of CNB, says: “The sale of these three units is a great success and a vote of confidence. The CNB 62 is a perfect example of the CNB spirit. It is elegant, seaworthy and powerful – yet manageable. The design and layout ensure that she can be sailed by a couple, but is not too small to invite friends and family on board.”
Her designer Philippe Briand adds: “The CNB 62 is the worthy successor to the famous CNB Bordeaux 60. Her seaworthiness is ensured by a balanced, powerful hull combined with an extensive sail plan. The yacht is excellent for ocean cruising and maintains the elegant, timeless style of her famous predecessors.”

Numerous unique selling points the CNB 62 has numerous unique selling points. She was primarily designed for owners who rely on proven CNB quality and want to maintain the greatest possible privacy – without a professional crew on board. In response to the wishes of many customers, the CNB 62 has been consistently designed as a safe and comfortable world cruiser that can also be sailed single-handed. The cockpit layout is designed so that the helmsman can cast off all lines without having to leave his position. The helmsman is completely protected because the steering wheels of the CNB 62 are positioned very far forward on the cockpit seating area. This means that the entire cockpit and steering positions can be completely protected with a bimini or even a fixed hardtop. The CNB 62 can be sailed comfortably in all conditions – almost like a modern IMOCA racer, if the comparison is allowed.

Safety thanks to Targa bar the cockpit of the CNB 62 is also designed for extremely safe and comfortable cruising. High backrests characterize the guest area; thanks to a sideways offset companionway, the cockpit table can be easily passed even when fully occupied. Particularly noteworthy, however, is the carbon “Targa” arch, which stretches stylishly over the cockpit and is used to hold the mainsheet. This design and constructional trick ensures that the mainsheet does not pose a safety risk in the cockpit. Also worth mentioning is the tender garage, which is installed lengthways under the cockpit and accommodates a three-meter-long dinghy. Vincent Arnaud: “We deliberately opted for this arrangement, as all other solutions are impractical, especially when there is a bit of swell.”

Plenty of space for the owner the layout of the CNB 62 follows the typical CNB line – characterised by a large and bright saloon as well as a very spacious area for the owner. This creates a sense of privacy for the owner, but also offers plenty of space for friends and family in their own luxurious cabins aft. Jean-Marc Piaton, interior designer of the CNB 62, comments: “Of the three cabins, the owner’s cabin occupies the entire area forward of the mast, offering an unprecedented amount of space for a 60-foot hull. An optional office completes the layout of this suite. The open galley in the saloon is both functional and inviting, and the aft cabins are accessible via a corridor that preserves guests’ privacy.” For the look, the experienced Frenchman chose light-colored woods and fabrics that give his interior proposal a harmonious and modern atmosphere. “Of course,” confirms Vincent Arnaud, ”we can also implement customer requests. After all, the CNB 62 is a semi-custom yacht.
