CANTIERE DELLE MARCHE CONQUERS THE SOUTH AMERICAN MARKET AND CONFIRMS THE SUCCESS OF ITS NAUTA AIR LINE
The Ancona-based shipyard adds a Darwin Class 102’ and a Nauta Air 108’ to its 2014 yacht sales and confirms its leadership in the 24- to 45-foot steel and aluminum displacement yacht segment of the market.
Cantiere delle Marche closes 2014 with two more sales, making a total of five yachts sold in less than twelve months.
Of this year’s five sales, three took place in South America, a market that CdM had decided to target in 2014 through specific marketing and sales activities made possible thanks to an important relational network. Its territorial activity will be notably intensified in 2015, with the appointment of a local dealer/area manager. The other two sales this year were concluded in Europe, with an English and with an Italian clients.
In particular, the last two yachts sold were:
CdM Nauta Air 108’: a displacement yacht in steel and aluminum, conceived in all its particulars for the Americas, with an especially reduced draft. In addition to the usual features of an Explorer yacht (over-engineering, redundancies, great seaworthiness, transpacific autonomy, etc.), this yacht designed by Nauta Design boasts ample outside spaces that culminate in a 70-square meter sun deck and, on the main deck, a real beach club that is in direct contact with the water. This is a particularly innovative alternative to having a beach club in the place that is usually dedicated to garage space. To CdM, another important feature of this boat is the 7.5-meter beam platform built to accommodate a layout that includes a master cabin on the main deck. On the technical side, besides the usual features also found in the Darwin Class, this boat will be fitted with a latest generation Dynamic Positioning System, along with a highly sophisticated navigation system, a ship-owner’s toy garage with side access door (the two tenders will be positioned externally, like on the Explorer yacht), and a Bulb (a CdM first-time feature). The interiors will be appointed by Italian designers and will include tactile and luxury surfaces.
Darwin Class 102’: the sister ship to the Darwin Class 102’ sold in February and designed by Sergio Cutolo of Hydrotec, this Explorer distinguishes itself thanks to an important modification brought to the stern, its particularly convivial layout, and special attention to the toys that are housed in its enormous garage. The very spacious stern platform can accommodate a five-meter tender, whereas the upper deck can hold a 6.20-meter one. During long voyages, the first one can also be put on the upper deck. At the Client request, a management team was involved in the ship-building process and was tasked with configuring the yacht for extended navigation, especially in the Caribbean and in the waters of South America, and for getting the most out of the Charter market. In answer to the many requests received by the shipyard in recent years, there will finally be a Darwin Class available for the Charter market.
CdM highlights some interesting information on the commercial success of its products:
The sales average has gone from one contract every 90 days to one contract every 75 days;
The size of yachts sold has increased and consequently, so has the valued of the single contracts: 4 of the last 5 boats have been over 100 feet long;
The shipyard’s backlog of orders is enough to keep production running at saturation capacity until 2017;
The launch of the Darwin 2.0 line and the immediate success of those sales has confirmed CdM’s ability to listen to and heed the yacht market voices, and has shown its capacity to respond quickly to the input received so as to satisfy demand;
The success of the Nauta Air line, which amounts to about 25% of the shipyard’s total production, bears witness to the fact that the market has fully responded to the innovative principle implicit in Explorer Yacht that is to be found in the form but in the content;
Virtually all of its buyers come from a world of serial-production shipyards with brands that have been solidly anchored in the market for decades or, in two cases, they are owners of yachts built in northern European shipyards with just as aristocratic a lineage. CdM’s commercial success shows how the market is evolving towards serving a type of clientele that demonstrates a greater maturity in its heightened attention to content, to quality, and to reliability above all else, just as was predicted in 2010 when the shipyard began its adventure.
Cantiere delle Marche, which distinguished itself from the start, thanks to the typology and quality of the boats produced in its Ancona facility, has earned its place among the best performers of the sector. As of now, three more yachts are planned for delivery in 2015 (Darwin Class 107’, 102’ and 86’) and there are additional orders on the books and in production for delivery between 2016 and 2017.
