BLUE WAKE™: SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS TO DISCOVER AT THE MONACO YACHT SHOW 2025
With Blue Wake™, the Monaco Yacht Show reaffirms its role as a committed platform for the ecological transition of the yachting industry.
This programme offers visitors easier access to concrete environmental solutions already implemented by recognised players in the sector.
The selected solutions span a wide range, from propulsion and energy to water treatment, on-board comfort, interior fittings, coatings, maintenance, refit, and leisure equipment.
This diversity reflects the vitality of a transforming ecosystem, where every link in the yacht production, maintenance or operational management chain becomes a ground for innovation towards more sustainable yachting.
This year, the Monaco Yacht Show’s Blue Wake™ programme highlights a selection of practical, operational solutions that can help accelerate the industry’s environmental transition. Among the 28 approved exhibitors, several technological fields illustrate the shift towards a more sustainable model, without compromising performance or design.
Hybrid, electric, or renewable energy propulsion systems are emerging as major drivers of change. They enable a substantial reduction in emissions while improving acoustic comfort and energy efficiency (Ampros, Propulsion House, Rolls-Royce Power Systems AG, Voith, Xeamos).
On-board wastewater management benefits from compact innovations that meet the world’s strictest standards and significantly reduce marine impact (DVZ-Services, Headhunter Inc).
Thermal optimisation through high-efficiency air-conditioning systems helps reduce energy consumption while maintaining consistent comfort, even in extreme conditions (Termodinamica).
New-generation shore power systems help reduce local emissions at berth by limiting the use of on-board generators or enabling the integration of renewable energy into on-board systems (ASEA Power Systems, SKF).
In terms of marine coatings , new low-VOC paints offer durability and aesthetic appeal while meeting regulatory standards (AkzoNobel, Boero YachtCoatings).
Sustainable interior design is becoming a key part of the eco-approach, with the use of bio-based or certified materials, without compromising elegance or premium quality (Cadorin Group Srl, Comilegno, Silverlining Furniture, Tai Ping).
Handling and lifting equipment , essential for port and yard operations, now integrates sustainability criteria into their design (Cimolai Technology Spa).
Materials used in marine operations are evolving as well, with recyclable shrink wraps designed to reduce plastic waste and promote reusability (Armadillo Wrapping).
Some of the technologies showcased also contribute directly to protecting the marine environment, such as biological systems for the natural degradation of hydrocarbons (Marina Ibiza) or marina infrastructures designed to reduce pollution and protect biodiversity (MDL Marinas).
Others represent a move towards cleaner energy sources , such as alternative fuels that significantly reduce carbon footprint (Deasyl), or dual-fuel marine engines that drastically cut diesel use and emissions (Ranieri Tonissi S.p.A).
The Blue Wake™ selection also includes eco-responsible tenders , designed with innovative, bio-based materials or powered by electric or hydrogen propulsion systems, offering high-performance navigation (Evene Tenders, Xtenders).
Finally, several committed shipyards illustrate a global, integrated approach: bioclimatic structures, digitalisation of operations, renewable energy use or alternative propulsion (Amico & Co, Cantiere Rossini, Sanlorenzo, Sunreef Yachts).
Through the Blue Wake™ programme, the Monaco Yacht Show demonstrates its commitment to supporting the environmental transition of the yachting industry in a tangible way. By spotlighting operational solutions developed by engaged stakeholders, the show fully plays its role as a catalyst between responsible innovation and industry decision-makers.
This initiative is part of a long-term approach: creating an ecosystem that fosters the adoption of sustainable technologies, in line with market developments and the expectations of a clientele increasingly mindful of its impact.
Gaëlle Tallarida – Managing Director of the Monaco Yacht Show
“The Blue Wake programme fully reflects the vitality and diversity of the eco-responsible technological solutions and innovations being developed within the yachting industry. It shows that the sector is taking real steps forward at every stage of yacht design, production, and operation. As the leading international platform, the Monaco Yacht Show embraces its role as a catalyst for this transformation, by showcasing pioneering initiatives and tangible progress that actively contribute to the environmental transition of yachting.”
Robert van Tol – Executive Director, Water Revolution Foundation
“Blue Wake highlights MYS exhibitors that have been developing concrete, innovative eco-responsible solutions for the yachting sector over the past several years. Our mission is to ensure that only robust and operational initiatives are included in this programme, thereby guaranteeing the true credibility and viability of the solutions presented at the MYS. The Monaco Yacht Show plays a vital role in showcasing these efforts, reinforcing the collective commitment of the entire yachting industry towards a sustainable transition. Yet, showcasing innovation is only half of the story—real change happens when buyers choose to embrace and adopt these solutions in their new build and refit projects. That’s how we collectively move the yachting industry forward.”
