AZIMUT LAUNCHES THE NEW FLAGSHIP: GRANDE 44M, THE ESSENCE OF INNOVATION
Azimut has launched the first Grande 44M, its new flagship superyacht that redefines contemporary yacht design by combining lightweight carbon fiber construction, innovative Hull Vane® foil technology and a Mild Hybrid propulsion system. The result is a yacht that offers more space, greater efficiency and an exceptionally quiet onboard experience.
The launch of the Grande 44M reinforces Azimut’s leadership in the superyacht segment, where vessels over 24 metres now account for more than two-thirds of the brand’s production value. The model has already generated strong market demand with seven units sold ahead of its official debut.
Representing the culmination of Azimut’s vision for the contemporary superyacht, the Grande 44M blends cutting-edge engineering with refined Italian design. Created in collaboration with renowned designer Alberto Mancini and architecture studio m²atelier, the yacht introduces a fresh design language while integrating advanced technologies that enhance both performance and the owner’s lifestyle.

A defining feature of the Grande 44M is its extensive use of carbon fiber, which makes up more than 50% of the vessel. By significantly reducing the weight of the superstructure, Azimut has created an unprecedented four-deck layout. The wheelhouse is positioned on the fourth deck, allowing the entire upper deck to become an exclusive owner’s retreat complete with private terraces overlooking the sea.
At the stern, the yacht features the signature Mezzanine Deck with a Sea View Terrace, inspired by the Grande Trideck concept. Enhancing the experience is the striking See-Through Pool, whose transparent design maintains uninterrupted sea views while creating captivating light effects that elevate the beach club atmosphere.
Inside, m²atelier has designed interiors that balance elegance with versatility. The layout reflects a philosophy of intentional living, offering flexible spaces tailored to the owner’s lifestyle. The forward section of the upper deck can function as a dining area for up to twelve guests, a private media lounge, or an additional guest space. Expansive floor-to-ceiling windows frame panoramic 180-degree views, seamlessly connecting the interior to the outdoor bow lounge, where guests can gather around a firepit to enjoy sunset views over the water.

Beyond its design, the Grande 44M represents the pinnacle of Azimut’s engineering innovation. As the flagship of the brand’s Low Emission fleet, it delivers up to a 30% reduction in CO₂ emissions compared to conventional yachts of similar size through the integration of several advanced technologies.
The yacht’s lightweight structure incorporates more than 1,000 square metres of carbon fiber, reducing weight by approximately eight tonnes in the upper sections of the vessel. This allows for increased interior volume while maintaining stability, performance and overall efficiency. The achievement reflects the Azimut|Benetti Group’s continued investment in advanced composite manufacturing, including its dedicated Composites Hub in Massa.
The Grande 44M also features Hull Vane® foil technology, developed in collaboration with Hull Vane®. Mounted aft, the lightweight carbon fiber foil suppresses stern wave formation while generating additional thrust, reducing hydrodynamic drag and improving fuel efficiency. Weighing only 400 kilograms compared to an estimated 1,500 kilograms if constructed from steel the foil also significantly reduces pitch and roll, delivering greater comfort while underway.

Complementing this is the Dual Mode hull, developed by the Azimut|Benetti Group’s R&D department in partnership with P.L. Ausonio Naval Architecture. Combining the efficiency of a fast displacement hull at the bow with the performance of a semi-planing hull at the stern, the design optimises fuel consumption across a wide range of operating speeds.
Sustainability is further enhanced through 30 square metres of integrated solar panels installed on the fourth deck, supplying energy to the yacht’s hotel systems.
The Grande 44M is also equipped with Azimut’s Mild Hybrid system, developed together with Asea Nautica. The system combines two 50 kW electric motors configured as shaft generators with a 188 kWh battery bank, expandable to 230 kWh. This enables the yacht to remain at anchor with its generators switched off, providing silent, zero-emission hotel operations for up to four hours during the day and up to ten hours overnight. The batteries can be fully recharged in just two hours while cruising at 15 knots, allowing the yacht to replenish its energy reserves during normal repositioning between anchorages.
With the launch completed, the Grande 44M now enters its final outfitting phase ahead of delivery. The yacht will make its official world debut at the 2026 Cannes Yachting Festival, marking another milestone in Azimut’s evolution and reinforcing its commitment to combining innovative technology, sustainable performance and uncompromising luxury.
