Arcadia Yachts – the innovative and unique “eco-friendly” Italian shipyard – has the pleasure toannounce the delivery of hull #1 of Arcadia 85S, the all-new “special” edition of the Arcadia 85 withsky-lounge, to her American Owner.
Date of sale: October 2015
Date of launch: April 2016
Date of delivery: May 2016
Arcadia 85S is designed to be a family yacht, which combines different exterior functions – actuallyover two decks, giving guests more possibility to spend time together. While interiors profit by theadvanced aesthetic sensation of “open space” and closer contact with nature thanks to the thefull”floor-to-ceiling” windows.
The layout and the functional living concepts of Arcadia 85S are the result of a constructionevolution: the linear design of the superstructure and the vertical line of the bow allow a better useof every single available internal/external space. Living capacity is wider than other yachts of thesame size. The uniqueness of Arcadia’s project is finding in the design solution to integrate solarpanels into a yacht with navigation performance.
Arcadia 85S hull #1has improved her soundproofing capacity index, replacing the PVC, for thefore part of the hull, with Balsa core sandwich structure. The advanced semi-planing hull whichallows efficient performances together with the very light superstructure in aluminumsignificantlyreduces weight and fuel consumption and related running costs of its low-power engines.
The 25.90 metre (84.95ft) Arcadia 85S has a full load displacement of 67 tons. She is powered bytwin MAN diesels R6-730hp each (optional engines 2xMAN 1000hp), giving her the maximumspeed of 18 knots and she can comfortably cruise at the speed of 16 knots, as well as 12.0 knots. Her range is approx 850NM @12.0 knots.
INNOVATIVE FLY BRIDGE
Arcadia 85S features on this “special edition” a new sky-lounge concept, convertible into asheltered third-deck, completely closed and protected by 360 degree openable windows that canbe raised up to meet the hard-top, exactly as it happens for the cars. Therefore the whole upper-deck area becomes much more flexible and usable with any weather condition, being air-conditioned in very hot climes or bad weather, or left open and aired if needed, as per anytraditional sky-lounge. On the third deck are fitted the wheelhouse, a lounge with sofas and coffeetables, wet-bar and, externally in the aft, a sun-deck.
NPL HULL AND PERFORMANCE
Arcadia 85S has a semi-displacement hull, NPL type. This kind of hull is named after the NationalPhysical Laboratory of England where tests were conducted to determine its shape for the bestratio of length to beam in terms of hydrodynamic efficiency. Studies were implemented byArcadia’s technical department prior to adopting the NPL as Arcadia’s hull, resulting in excellentsea keeping qualities and noise reduction, for exceptional comfort.
This advanced hull, together with the light Arcadia superstructure, allows very satisfactoryperformance with low-power engines. It significantly reduces fuel consumption and related runningcosts compared to other yachts of similar dimensions.
ADDITIONAL ENERGY FROM SOLAR PANELS
Solar cells of latest generation are integrated between external and internal surface of double-glazing panels fitted on top of the largest part of the superstructure. The 36ksqm of solar panels -each composed of hundreds of high performance solar cells -installed onboard the Arcadia 85S, an advanced and ecological system, supplies up to 3,5kw, areenough to guarantee self sufficiency energy for many equipments and electrical systems, likerefrigerators, water circulation, toilettes, lights, A/V, electronics, while recharging batteries. Letssay, the power needed on board while at anchor, excluding the air conditioning system, is supplied”free of charge” all day long by the solar panels system and convertor rather than the generators. Itresults in a significant saving of diesel oil, less pollution and more comfort on board thanks to thesubstantial reduction of noise, vibration, no gas emission while enjoying your time close to theswim platform. Each double-glazing panel contains a special gas named Krypton, whichguarantees a high thermo-isolating coefficient, up to 18° of thermal cooling between interior andexterior temperatures, the equivalent of a 20 cm brick wall.
DESIGN AND LAYOUT
The design of Arcadia 85S reflects simple and understated styling with an harmonious blendbetween the indoor and outdoor areas. Her deckhouse has been made almost entirely out ofdouble layered reflecting glass, giving the interior a bright and airy feel. The sliding over-head andlateral blinds can provide privacy and shade. Arcadia 85S impressive aft-deck lounge (8,50mt inlength) features a well protected cockpit, perfect for dining, as well as large sunbathing areatowards the stern of the yacht.
The Arcadia 85S hull#1 has four guest cabins at the lower deck, including the spectacular owner’scabinadminship. The room is unusually large with a stunningly beautiful en suite head.
The large VIP cabin forward is fitted with double bed and dressing. And there are also two moretwin cabins. The bow of the yacht offers space for 4 of crew. A remarkable space has beenassigned to the crew and technical areas, including the tender garage where a 4 meter tender and2 seater Jet Ski can easily be stored.
Arcadia 85S main saloon is more intimate and provides space for up to 8 guests. However, the aftdeck being well protected against the elements, gives a larger possibility to guest to spend most ofthe time there, instead of inside.
The interior of the yacht features modern furniture by well known best of “made in Italy” designbrands, such as Poltrone Frau, CassinaandB&B. Almost all the interiors are composed of loosepieces of furniture, thus giving the option of modular layouts. In this version, Arcadia 85 has anopen-spaced galley to the dining area.
