FERRETTI GROUP SECURES LANDMARK AUTHORISATION TO BUILD SUPERYACHTS OF UP TO 100 METRES IN ANCONA
The first ZES single authorisation granted in the Port of Ancona marks a major milestone in Ferretti Group’s industrial development, strengthening its superyacht production capabilities and reaffirming its commitment to Italian manufacturing excellence.
Ferretti Group has announced a significant milestone in its industrial development following the approval of the first Special Economic Zone (ZES) single authorisation in the Port of Ancona. The approval paves the way for the expansion of the Group’s Ancona Superyacht Yard, enabling the construction of superyachts measuring up to 100 metres in length.
Secured in just 54 days, the authorisation represents an important achievement for Ferretti Group and demonstrates the value of effective collaboration between industry and public institutions in accelerating strategic investment.
The expansion will involve the development of an existing production facility, increasing the shipyard’s maximum yachtbuilding capacity from 90 to 100 metres. Construction is expected to take approximately six months, with the project generating an estimated initial economic impact of €30 million for the local area and its wider industrial ecosystem.
Beyond the increase in production capacity, the development represents a strategic advancement for Ferretti Group, reinforcing its position in the upper segment of the international superyacht market. The ability to construct yachts of up to 100 metres will create new opportunities for future projects while further strengthening the Group’s expertise in design, engineering, technological innovation and manufacturing excellence.
The investment also reflects Ferretti Group’s long-term commitment to strengthening its industrial presence in Italy and consolidating its leadership in the global luxury yachting industry.
Stassi Anastassov: “Ambition, speed and execution this is what Ferretti Group must stand for” Commenting on the milestone, Stassi Anastassov, Global CEO of Ferretti Group, said: “This is exactly what I want Ferretti Group to stand for: ambition, speed and execution. In just 54 days, we secured the authorisation to take our Ancona shipyard to the next level. This is what happens when industry and institutions share the same determination to move forward.
“But our ambition is not simply to build bigger yachts. It is to build the world’s most desirable yachts setting new standards in design, quality, technology and innovation. And we want to do it here, in Italy.
“Made in Italy is not a marketing slogan for Ferretti Group. It is our identity, our heritage and our future. Our brands are Italian, our craftsmanship is Italian, and our commitment to Italian industrial excellence is unwavering.
“The Ancona Superyacht Yard is a remarkable centre of shipbuilding expertise, and this expansion is another step towards unlocking its full potential.
“I want to thank the Port System Authority, the Marche Region, the City of Ancona and the ZES authorities for their commitment and collaboration. When Italian excellence meets ambition and speed, extraordinary things become possible.”
Ancona Superyacht Yard: A strategic hub for future growth covering almost 80,000 square metres, the Ancona Superyacht Yard is among Ferretti Group’s most significant industrial facilities and serves as a strategic manufacturing hub for its superyacht operations.
The planned expansion will further enhance the shipyard’s ability to accommodate increasingly sophisticated projects, combining advanced engineering capabilities, innovative technologies and exceptional craftsmanship.
Extending production capabilities to 100 metres represents an important step in the Group’s long-term industrial strategy. It will provide greater flexibility in developing future superyacht projects, broaden commercial opportunities and strengthen Ferretti Group’s ability to compete in a market characterised by increasingly complex technical requirements and heightened expectations for design, performance and personalisation.
The initiative also underscores the Group’s continued investment in Italian manufacturing and its commitment to supporting the specialised network of suppliers, artisans, engineers and industrial partners that contribute to the country’s internationally recognised yachtbuilding expertise.
With an estimated economic impact of approximately €30 million, the project is expected to deliver benefits beyond the shipyard itself, supporting the local economy and reinforcing Ancona’s role as an important centre for luxury yacht construction.
Streamlined authorisation process supports industrial development the authorisation, signed on 21 October 2026 by Giosy Romano, Single Coordinator of the ZES for the Mezzogiorno, and Mirco Carloni, President of the Central Adriatic Sea Port System Authority, is the first granted under the ZES single-authorisation framework in the Port of Ancona following the extension of the measures to the Marche Region.
The approval process was completed in just 54 days through close cooperation among the relevant public authorities, with support from the Marche Regional Government, particularly Regional President Francesco Acquaroli and Regional Councillor for Industry Gino Brugaro, as well as the Municipality of Ancona.
The accelerated approval highlights the importance of streamlined administrative procedures and effective institutional coordination in facilitating industrial investment and strengthening Italy’s international competitiveness.
For Ferretti Group, the achievement also demonstrates the strategic importance of speed and operational efficiency in an industry where innovation, engineering complexity, production quality and time to market are increasingly critical to long-term success.
Reinforcing the future of Made in Italy superyacht building the expansion of the Ancona Superyacht Yard represents a further step in Ferretti Group’s strategy to strengthen its industrial capabilities and pursue new opportunities at the highest levels of the global luxury yachting market.
By combining increased production capacity with its established expertise in design, engineering and craftsmanship, the Group aims to continue raising standards across its portfolio while meeting the evolving expectations of international superyacht owners.
Above all, the development reaffirms Ferretti Group’s commitment to Italian industrial excellence and its belief that the future of luxury yachting will continue to be shaped by the innovation, expertise and craftsmanship of Made in Italy.
The Ancona expansion marks not only an increase in yachtbuilding capability, but also a strategic investment in the next generation of Italian superyachts.
