Dubai witnesses launch: Piaget Altiplano
Dubai witnesses the launch of the Piaget Altiplano 38 mm 900P; the ideal timepiece for people seeking perfection in life
Committed to Perfection in Life, Piaget recently celebrated the launch of its record-breaking timepiece, the Piaget Altiplano 38 mm 900P in Dubai. Some perfect moments were marked as the timepiece was launched amidst an intimate dinner that took place at the Upper Terrace of the Traiteur restaurant at the Park Hyatt hotel and was graced by select VIP guests and friends of Piaget. Against the beautiful backdrop of the vivid Dubai skyline, guests were shown the movie about the timepiece and how it attained the record for ‘Thinnest mechanical watch of the World’ thereby giving Piaget the title of ‘The Master of the ultra-thin.’
Speaking out at the launch, Piaget’s Brand Director for Middle East & India, Mr. Jean-Marc Chammas said, “We are thrilled to be launching the Piaget Altiplano 38 mm 900P, the world’s thinnest mechanical watch in the perfect city of Dubai. Launching this flawless timepiece in a city with people constantly striving for perfection further complements Piaget’s dedication to Perfection in Life.”
Neither entirely a movement nor exactly a case – or rather both at once: the Altiplano 38 mm 900P merges the hand-wound calibre with the case elements, and is designed as a single entity in order to achieve record-breaking slenderness at just 3.65 mm thin. Made of pink or white gold 18K, this timepiece’s calibre and case unite to form a whole with a black-coated movement. The Altiplano 38 mm 900P also has a generous power reserve of around 48 hours. Representing a crowning achievement in over half a century of virtuoso skills displayed in the realm of ultra-thin watchmaking where Piaget reigns supreme, it conveys the excellence of the two integrated Manufactures run by the Maison. This luxurious watch testifies to the sheer excellence of the Maison’s two integrated Manufactures – where watchmakers, case makers and designers join forces to breathe life into this masterpiece of reliability and precision. The secret of this extreme thinness lies in the case itself, which also serves as a main plate. Housing both the calibre and the case, the case back was itself machine-tooled to accommodate the mechanical components. This most complex of architectures also required the reverse construction of the movement, with bridges fitted on the dial side, thus rendering them visible and requiring close attention to aesthetics. Offering an elegant contrast to the white gold of the case, the sunburst chamfered bridges are black.
It was an evening of excellence as Piaget’s perfect timepiece brought to life Piaget signature Perfection in Life.
