70M CERULEAN CRN SUPERYACHT DELIVERED
The 70-metre fully custom superyacht, formerly known as Project Thunderball combines timeless design, advanced engineering and bespoke Italian craftsmanship.
CRN has announced the delivery of the 70-metre displacement superyacht Cerulean, formerly known as Project Thunderball, following the successful completion of testing and sea trials at the shipyard.
Combining a clean aesthetic defined by classic lines with technological innovation, refined Italian craftsmanship and CRN’s bespoke design culture, Cerulean is the result of a close collaboration between CRN, Dutch studio Vripack Yacht Design and Italian design firm Nauta.
CRN brought its extensive expertise in naval architecture, engineering and the construction of fully bespoke metal yachts to the project. Vripack developed the yacht’s exterior design, preliminary naval architecture and general arrangement, while Nauta was responsible for the interiors and the design of the outdoor living areas with a particular focus on comfort, continuity and spatial flow.
Y.CO, acting as the Owner’s representative and project management team, provided technical expertise and oversight throughout the construction process. Its involvement encompassed inspection and acceptance procedures, project management activities, and the supervision and coordination of third-party suppliers.
Measuring 70 metres in length, with an 11-metre beam and a gross tonnage of 1,100 GT, Cerulean is arranged across four decks. She accommodates up to 12 guests in the Owner’s suite and five VIP cabins, alongside 15 crew members in nine crew cabins.
Cerulean’s exterior is distinguished by a classic elongated bow, sleek profile and graceful, sailboat-inspired lines. Gently curved bilges and seamless surfaces reinforce the yacht’s elegant proportions and timeless character.
A defining feature of the project is the strong visual and architectural continuity between the interior and exterior spaces. Geometries and proportions are echoed throughout the yacht, creating a fluid and recognisable design language. Recurring patterns are interpreted at different scales and through varying materials and functions, establishing a careful balance between visual variety and overall consistency.
Guided by the Owner’s bespoke vision, every element from the selection of materials to the development of technical solutions and onboard systems was shaped through a continuous dialogue between form and function.
The resulting interior concept is designed to transcend trends, drawing on maritime heritage while expressing it through a contemporary and refined aesthetic. Timeless detailing, carefully selected materials and sophisticated craftsmanship establish a strong connection with yachting tradition while maintaining a distinctly modern identity.
Alongside her design credentials, Cerulean incorporates advanced engineering solutions focused on energy efficiency, operational performance and customisation. Among these is an Energy Storage System (ESS) designed to optimise onboard energy flows according to operational requirements. The system enables peak shaving and silent operation while at anchor, contributing to a significant reduction in fuel consumption.
The combination of bespoke design, advanced technology and meticulous craftsmanship reflects CRN’s approach to fully custom yacht construction. Conceived around the Owner’s individual vision, Cerulean represents a distinctive expression of contemporary superyacht design, bringing together timeless elegance, technical innovation and sophisticated detailing in a unique 70-metre vessel.
