30M CONCEPT PROJECT NEXO NOT EITHER BUT BOTH BY PHATHOM STUDIO
Developed by Phathom Studio in collaboration with Van der Valk Shipyard, Project NEXO reflects the design studio’s vision for a yacht that sits deliberately between traditional categories bringing together refinement and activity, connection and solitude, comfort and adventure.
Rather than beginning with a conventional commissioned brief, NEXO originated as a self-initiated concept by Phathom Studio, developed together with the shipyard. This approach gave the design team the creative freedom to explore what a modern 30-metre yacht could be and, more importantly, how owners and guests might experience life on board.

At the heart of NEXO is Phathom Studio’s human-centred approach to yacht design. The concept goes beyond creating a distinctive exterior profile, focusing instead on the relationship between space, comfort and the way people naturally move, interact and relax on board.
Every element has been considered with the onboard experience in mind, creating spaces that feel intuitive, effortless and adaptable. Rather than designing around a single purpose, Phathom has envisioned NEXO as a yacht capable of responding to different moments from social gatherings and active days on the water to quieter periods of privacy and retreat.
The project represents Phathom Studio’s belief that contemporary yacht design does not need to be defined by either-or choices. NEXO brings seemingly contrasting qualities together within one cohesive design, offering an alternative vision for owners seeking greater versatility from a yacht of this size.
The concept also brings together Phathom Studio’s design philosophy with Van der Valk Shipyard’s expertise in fully custom yacht construction, translating the studio’s creative vision into a technically considered platform.
This first preview offers an introduction to Project NEXO, with the complete concept set to be revealed shortly.
