Volvo Penta reveals global premiere of D2-60 engine at Düsseldorf boat show
The new four-cylinder D2-60 engine by Volvo Penta will achieve its international premiere at boot Düsseldorf (the Düsseldorf boat show) in Germany from January 21-29. Visitors will be able to experience its capabilities and find out more about other Volvo Penta products on display.
The engine is available for both S-drive and shaft installations and is suitable for sail yachts and other displacement boats which require compact diesel engines complemented by excellent performance. It is charge air-cooled with an output of 60 hp at 3000 rpm. The engine is low in weight and provides excellent fuel consumption, and low noise and vibration. RCD II regulations came into force in January and are applicable to all engine-powered leisure watercraft of 2.5m to 24m (except racing boats, hydrofoils and hovercraft) and relate to both exhaust and noise emissions. The engine is also compliant with the US EPA Tier 3 emissions standards.
“The new D2-60 is an important part of our extended range of compact diesel engines and makes us highly competitive in the market for small craft,” says Jan Wiese, sales manager for Volvo Penta in Germany. “We’re excited to be revealing it for the first time to a global audience in Düsseldorf and we look forward to showing exactly how it can enhance the boating experience.”
