Van Geest Design & Fincantieri Yachts Collaboration for project MIRAGE 106m Motor Yachts
MIRAGE, is an optical illusion caused by atmospheric conditions, by the refraction of light from the sky.
Mirage was designed to bind seemingly opposite and contrary forces being complementary, interconnected, and interdependent, One is to anchor its presence in the landscape, the other is to disappear by reflecting its surroundings.
Mirage is the translation of our city landscapes, sky scrapers, gigantic, present, anchored, but then again cladded with reflective surfaces, blending into the landscape, merging with its environment, giving lightness to the building, an elegant presence embracing its surroundings.
Present on the water un-accessible with a closed transom, one can only board in by invitation. It is a retreat made discreet by its reflective surfaces blending on the horizon, with its decks disappearing between water and sky.
Unfolding itself, Mirage tells a story of time, reflecting the day passing by on a coloured reflective surface offering a peaceful gaze on the travelled distances.
Description of layout:
Top deck forward is a pure fun area designed with a tub, bean bags with an open view, a reversed theatre on the roof and its unfolding outdoor cinema. Aft, the Helicopter landing platform giving the ultimate freedom of movement.
Bridge deck forward the area has been designed as a gathering point, interacting with the captain, discussing the next destination while looking forward.
The main Deck is dedicated to guests with forward cabins and aft entertainment areas. The aft full beam glazed balustrade opens the deck to its surroundings. The Owner’s deck is designed for privacy with an amazing all-around view. The Owner’s stateroom located forward is with a sheltered exterior deck area; aft a family saloon with the yacht signature full beam glazed balustrade.
The Guest circulation is designed in a central core, from the water line where guest board the yacht to the Heli-pad. On the water line from the centre, a glass corridor goes through the engine room leading to a full beam Spa, where all areas are dressed in graduated electric privacy glass.
