Strength in Middle East Marina Industry Training
16 participants have successfully graduated from the Intermediate Marina Management (IMM) course held in Abu Dhabi this month. Graduates came from as far afield as Turkey and Hong Kong with the majority from the growing number of UAE and wider regional marinas.
The IMM is recognised by the Global Marina Institute (GMI) and delivered by in-region Certified Marina Managers and business professionals. The course covers essential topics for effective marina management including emergency and environmental management; finance, customer service and marinas of the future. Graduates conducted an analysis of three Abu Dhabi marinas and presented their findings as part of their assessment. The graduates were presented with certificates of completion by the GMI Board member representing the Middle East region Farrokh Golchin and the Marina Industries Association CEO Colin Bransgrove.
The occasion was also a suitable platform to award two established marina managers with the status of Certified Marina Manager (CMM).They are EverttUcat from Al Bandar Marina in Abu Dhabi and Andy Savill from JA Jebel Ali Golf Resort Marina in Dubai. Farrokh Golchin said “having a growing number of CMM’s in the Middle East region is very important for the growth of the recreational boating industry. An expanding number of well trained professional marina managers will not only strengthen the level of customer satisfaction and business success across the Middle East but also strengthen the regions marina training and education capability.”
During 2017 IMM courses under the GMI banner will be held in Australia, Thailand and the United Kingdom with another course in the UAE a distinct possibility.
