GULF CRAFT REVEALS NEW 37M MAJESTY YACHTS MODEL AT THE MONACO YACHT SHOW
Gulf Craft is pleased to reveal the tri-deck Majesty 120, a new 37-metre addition to the Majesty Yachts – Superyacht Collection of luxury motor yachts.
Announced during the Monaco Yacht Show 2019 onboard the Majesty 140 by Gulf Craft Executive Chairman, Mohammed Hussein Alshaali, the Emirates-yacht builder stated that the first hull is officially under construction. Completion is scheduled for March 2020.
Speaking to yachting media and industry professionals at the Gulf Craft press conference in Port Hercules, Mr Alshaali presented an innovative new Majesty superyacht model ideally suited to European and American markets.
“With the Majesty 120, everything except for the engines and generators are electrically powered – from the fin stabilisers to the thrusters and steering, from the balconies to the passerelle, all services onboard will not require any use of hydraulics.
“Listening to market demands for more efficiency as well as more comfort onboard, the Majesty 120 not only meets these demands but represents a new era of Majesty Yachts around the world. Building on the quality and innovative design of the other models, the new model represents the best of the shipyard’s flagship brand”.
The Majesty 120: A closer look
Measuring 37 metres (120’) with a beam of 8.10 metres (26’) and a draft of 2.00 metres (7’), the Majesty 120 is constructed using advanced composites such as GRP and carbon fibre. Gulf Craft’s in-house design studio is responsible for her naval architecture and exterior design, while the Italian studio of Cristiano Gatto Design Team undertook her interior design. Aggressive lines and a demanding profile define the Majesty 120, with the signature Majesty Yachts windows lining the hull. Extensive use of glass offers an unparalleled connection to the outdoors with low bulwarks allowing for an ornamental glass railing design.
Onboard, she accommodates up to 10 guests across five spacious staterooms in an inventive asymmetric layout. A total of seven crew are also accommodated onboard. Amongst the standout features onboard the new Majesty 120 is a Jacuzzi on the sun deck as well as a hybrid beach club. Another example of innovative design and engineering, the beach club is convertible to a tender storage unit to ensure maximum fun on the water. Offering maximum flexibility to owners, the VIP stateroom entertainment area can be cleverly transformed into a spacious lounge quarter on the lower deck.
Dedicated to the design and construction of a yacht that offers owners more usable living space, the Gulf Craft team undertook months of rigorous R&D to ensure ultimate space optimisation. As a result, the new Majesty 120 boasts 30% larger outdoor entertainment areas compared to other yachts in its class.
Contemporary interior design
Working to a design brief that called for a minimalistic boat to meet international tastes, designer Cristiano Gatto created a modern and contemporary interior design. Gatto, who has collaborated with the shipyard on projects including the Majesty 175 and Majesty 140, comments “The Majesty 120 is the result of yet another fruitful collaboration with Majesty Yachts. A true testament to this collaboration, the Majesty 140 took the title of Best Interior Design at the 18th edition of the World Yachts Trophies in Cannes Yachting Festival 2019 for Best Semi-Displacement or Planing Motor Yachts from 30-50m.
‘’I’m extremely proud to be part of an open and productive merging of two different design cultures and look forward to our future projects together. For me, the Majesty 120 perfectly captures the direction in which this innovative brand is heading with her dynamic profile, balanced outdoor spaces and sophisticated interiors that are all designed with true yachtsmen and women in mind.”
Electric revolution
The Majesty 120 represents a revolution not only for Gulf Craft but for the entire luxury yacht industry. She is the first-ever Majesty Yacht model to be completely electrically powered and, apart for the engines and generators, no hydraulic systems are used onboard. By doing so, Gulf Craft has created a noise-free environment as well as created a more efficient construction process that leads to a care-free maintenance lifespan for every owner. Paul Gray, Chief Operating Officer at Gulf Craft, elaborates: “Eliminating hydraulic systems around the yacht will lead to less maintenance, fewer opportunities for mechanical failure, decreased noise and the complete elimination of pipes with high-pressure oil around the boat. Everything is always efficiently monitored from the main control screens – in other words, this system offers more comfort for owners and guests and less work for the crew, ultimately resulting in better service and operations on board.
“Recent innovations in this technology allow for more and more electrically operated aspects of new yachts. We’re proud at Majesty Yachts to be leading the industry in order to offer clients the yachts of the future.”
As part of Gulf Craft’s expansion plans, the Majesty 120 is a superyacht tailored to suit international markets that demand high-quality, luxury motor yachts. Construction on hull #01 began in March 2019 and will be completed by March 2020.
