FROM RECYCLED PLASTIC TO LUXURY SUSTAINABLE YACHT INTERIORS

Sunreef Yachts Eco represents a comprehensive approach to sustainable yachting, aimed at enhancing energy efficiency and environmental responsibility across all aspects of the experience. As part of this initiative, the shipyard’s research and development team has been integrating recycled PET bottles into the production process, initially for the composite structures of the yachts and now for their interiors. Up to 150,000 recycled PET bottles are used to create the interior of the Sunreef 80, transforming waste into high-performance, sustainable materials.

The use of PET foam in the interior design results in a 60% weight reduction compared to traditional plywood solutions. This significant decrease in weight leads to reducing fuel consumption, thereby enhancing the vessel’s overall performance and environmental footprint.
Developed entirely in-house, this pioneering PET foam application is currently being implemented, with a vision to replace up to 60% of total interior structures. Despite its cutting-edge composition, the material seamlessly integrates with all traditional yacht finishes, including wood, paint, and laminate, ensuring uncompromised aesthetics and luxury.

PET foam eliminates the need for non-recyclable adhesives, making it a fully recyclable and environmentally friendly alternative. Beyond its sustainability benefits, it also enhances onboard comfort by significantly reducing noise levels, ensuring a quieter and more serene yachting experience.
