Ferruccio Lamborghini’s legendary
Ferruccio Lamborghini’s legendary unique Riva Aquarama Lamborghini sports boat is for sale
For true Riva enthusiasts and connoisseurs, now is the chance to acquire the unique and fully restored Riva Aquarama Lamborghini. Built nearly 50 years ago for and commissioned by Ferruccio Lamborghini, founder of the superb Italian sports car brand, it is the fastest Aquarama in the world. The current owner has decided to make this unique sports boat available to a new owner.
Years after the death of its proprietor in 1993, this unique launch seemed to have disappeared off the face of the earth until the current owner, a Riva collector from the Netherlands, tracked down Ferruccio Lamborghini’s Aquarama Lamborghini and had it fully restored to its original condition by Riva World, a world-renowned specialist in the restoration of Riva boats. The restoration took three years, long enough to put the sports boat back to its original condition, down to the smallest detail.
One-off Riva
The Iconic Riva Lamborghini was registered and delivered on the 7th of June 1968 to its famous owner Ferruccio Lamborghini. The boat included a few specifically unique features. It was the first and only one fitted with twin Lamborghini engines and had special side railing for holding on to during waterskiing and record attempts. The engine compartment was modified to fit the engines and a special open exhaust was built just to meet Ferruccio’s demands.
20 years of ownership
Ferruccio owned this boat for more than 20 years, until he decided to sell it to his close friend Angelo Merli in July 1988. Several speed skiing records were broken and naturally as exponent of Italian craft and design, Ferruccio was very passionate about his Riva as a lifestyle statement – just maybe even as passionate as he was about his famous Lamborghini Miura.
Restoration
The restoration was extensive and comprehensive:
• The wooden hull was repaired and sanded down
• The hull was given no fewer than 25 layers of varnish
• The wooden interior was restored
• The seats were reupholstered in the illustrious Riva design
• All buttons and switches were disassembled, repaired and reinstalled
• All chrome parts were polished and shine again like new
• Lamborghini’s Riva was equipped with impressive twin Lamborghini V12 engines, originating from the very first Lamborghini ever produced: the 350 GT.
