Baglietto at the MYS introduces major collaboration with Mulder Design for the 70 m project SESTANTE
Baglietto, the historical boat builder based in La Spezia, Italy, announced today, during the press conference held at Hotel Hermitage, in Monaco, a new important cooperation project with one of the leading international yacht design firms: Mulder Design is indeed going to pencil the SESTANTE, a new 70 m yacht that will become the top of the range in Baglietto’s T-Line.
The press conference was also the perfect occasion to introduce the restyling of the iconic 43 m fast signed by Francesco Paszkowski Design.
“Working with great designers makes us extremely proud – commented Baglietto CEO Michele Gavino. The 43 m Fast is a yacht that has played a crucial role in Baglietto’s history and this restyling makes it even more attractive for those who love Baglietto’s distinctive high-performing style. Our cooperation with Mulder, in turn, is an important achievement for us, because this will be the largest project ever conceived by our shipyard. The SESTANTE will carry forward our brand’s tradition, while also introducing impressive innovation and technological solutions”.
70 m SEXTANS by MULDER DESIGN
The shipyard asked for a project that would draw inspiration from, and preserve, Baglietto’s tradition but also reinterpret it in a modern, innovative way. The result is a yacht boasting sinuous, seducing lines, but also top performances and technological innovation, which are the key features of this very “manly” yacht characterised by a strong personality.
Great care was devoted to naval architecture and to the engineering of the hull, whose design ensures stability, seaworthiness and efficiency in all weather conditions and at all speeds. The Mulder Design High Speed Cruising Hull for this project was developed with an eye to achieving better performance as high speed, something that would not be achievable with conventional hulls.
Hull resistance was reduced over a large speed range, without the loss of on board comfort. From high speed cruising in excess of 20 knots to long range cruising at 12 knots the flow of the water along the hull was studied and optimized by using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics). By doing so we found a near-perfect combination of hull shape, bulbous bow and transom immersion.
Further improvement of fuel efficiency can be obtained by using the optional Voith VLJ propulsion. The yacht can be delivered as a hybrid or with diesel-electric propulsion. Speed up to12 knots can be achieved under full diesel-electric propulsion, extending the yacht’s range in excess of 10,000 nautical miles.
Great attention has been paid since the very beginning to comfort on board thanks to standard roll stabilizers, but can be further improved using pitch stabilizing, a feature never seen on yachts before.
The interior layout is also very interesting. The master cabin, in particular, features a private deck with Jacuzzi, while the VIP cabins enjoy a magnificent panoramic view on the sea from two private balconies. At the stern, a spacious beach lounge with a bar and seats allows to enjoy contact with the sea to the fullest. A touch-and-go helipad is available forward, while two tenders of 6.5m and 9m respectively are stored in the two back garages, one on port side and the other behind the beach lounge.
43 m FAST RESTYLE BY FRANCESCO PASZKOWSKI DESIGN
The restyle of the iconic model of the Baglietto 43m FAST perfectly combine the tradition of the brand’s fast yacht and the style of the new Baglietto Fast range, which include also a 38m and a 46m. The yacht’s streamlined, sleek lines have been designed by Francesco Paszkowski while the interiors have been signed in cooperation with MargheritaCasprini.
A lowered bulwark (as the one presented in Lucky Me), big windows and a significantly increased volumes represent the main characteristic of this restyle. Thanks to the hard top a nice covered area on the flybridge is gained while the shortened super structure allows to get a comfortable sunbed area in the aft peak on the main deck. On the sides two terraces open to the sea. A beach club is also included.
The interiors in the tone of beige and brown are contemporary and sophisticated. The final result is a yacht with strong personality and a very recognizable Baglietto identity.
Two MTU 12V4000 M93L engines allow a maximum speed of 28 knots and a comfortable cruising speed of 25 knots.
