BAGLIETTO CELEBRATES ITS 170TH ANNIVERSARY WITH TWO DAYS DEDICATED TO ITS HISTORY AND PEOPLE
Last Saturday marked the conclusion of the celebrations for Baglietto’s 170th anniversary. The event spanned two days dedicated to remembering and celebrating a brand built on history, tradition, past successes, and future visions.
Around 250 guests, including national and local authorities, clients, press, and friends of the brand, celebrated with the management of the Gavio group and the shipyard during a special evening hosted by Lorena Bianchetti. The evening aimed to honor the history of an Italian excellence that has been looking to the future for 170 years while firmly keeping its roots. This embodies the refined style and soul of Italian yachting.
The unique story of Baglietto is an all-Italian adventure, marked by bold visions and realized dreams. This narrative is well captured in the book ”Baglietto: The Art of Yachting Since 1854”, published by Rizzoli and authored by Antonio Macaluso, which was presented at this occasion ahead of its release in bookstores on October 29.
During the event, a new concept was unveiled, celebrating over 30 years of collaboration between Baglietto and renowned designer Francesco Paszkowski. The fast 70’’ Open perfectly embodies the innovative spirit that has distinguished Baglietto throughout its history, marking another step forward in the stylistic and technological evolution of the shipyard. Chato II, named after Chato—the fastest boat ever built by the shipyard, capable of reaching 60 knots back in 1986—is not just an avant-garde vessel; it serves as an ideal tribute to speed on the sea and the numerous records in the history of the seagull brand.
A moment dedicated to sustainability was highlighted with the live confirmation of the functioning of the BZero system, the plant for the production of “green hydrogen,” which provided the energy for the entire evening.
Finally, a mention of the Officina Baglietto project was made, alongside the launch of a new competition for young talents, now active on the dedicated pages.
Saturday also saw the participation of about 500 people during an open day dedicated to the families of employees and suppliers, as well as friends of the brand. They had the opportunity to navigate through the brand’s history via the immersive exhibition “Tales of the Blue.” Created in a container for easy transport, this exhibition provides an immersive experience that tells the incredible story of the Seagull through images and sensations.
In a festive and relaxed environment, despite the rain, there were games for the little ones and opportunities to visit the boats under construction. A surprise visit from the A1 basketball team of Bertram Derthona allowed younger attendees to exchange passes and shots.
“We chose to celebrate this important event in two equally significant parts: the gala evening paid tribute to the local and regional authorities in a more formal occasion, while Saturday’s celebration focused on the people— the women and men who truly represent the heart of Baglietto. Their daily work and commitment give meaning to this company and ensure its continuity. These individuals, with their hands, experiences, intellect, and know-how, have created innovation, sometimes even revolution, and much beauty. I believe this is Baglietto’s secret,” says Diego Michele Deprati, CEO of Baglietto. “It certainly was 170 years ago, and it continues to be today, from that 1854 moment on the coast of Varazze to now, breathing life into this beautiful brand.”
