ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI) AND YACHT BUILDING: HOW FUTURE TECHNOLOGIES ARE SAHAPING THE YACHT INDUSTRY
The relationship between yacht building and AI (artificial intelligence) has been gaining increasing attention in recent years. In this era of rapidly advancing technology, yacht manufacturers are aiming to make a mark in the industry with innovative solutions like autonomous yachts. Much like Tesla’s autonomous vehicles in the automotive sector, yachts are progressing towards having autonomous cruising and vision capabilities. In this article, we will explore the innovations AI brings to yacht building, how it is currently being used in projects, and how these advancements are transforming the yacht industry for the future.
Autonomous Yachts: The First Steps of Technology
Autonomous yachts are currently one of the most prominent topics at the intersection of AI and yacht building. These yachts utilize LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) systems integrated with radars and other sensors to provide 3D visualization capabilities. LIDAR technology scans the yacht’s surroundings up to 500 meters, creating a wide 3D environment. When integrated with radar, it adds 2D images for areas beyond this range, forming the first phase of infrastructure for autonomous yachts.
Although this technology has not been fully implemented yet, some companies and projects in the industry are testing these systems to develop autonomous cruising capabilities. For instance, a yacht manufacturer signed an agreement with an American client to integrate LIDAR systems with an Alarm Monitoring System (AMS) to collect data, which will be used in future autonomous cruising projects. Such initiatives play a crucial role in unlocking the future potential of autonomous yachts.
AI in Project Management: Rise of Agent-Based Models
Another important application of AI is in agent-based project management. Supported by natural language processing (NLP) systems, these models have the capability to collect data, perform strategic analyses, send emails, and automate resource management. Such systems can minimize human errors in managing large projects, thereby speeding up processes. In yacht building, where long-term projects are common, effective time management is crucial. AI-supported project management systems enable more efficient handling of processes and can shorten delivery times.
For example, ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems developed by software and technology firms are tools designed to reduce the workload of project managers. AI-based project management tools can integrate with these systems, allowing them to monitor project progress, manage budgets, and predict risks in advance.
