66TH GENOA INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW: RINA REAFFIRMS ITS RECOGNITION OF THE SHOW’S COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABLE MANAGEMENT
The Genoa International Boat Show continues to strengthen its commitment to sustainable event management through the implementation of ISO 20121, the international standard establishing requirements for event sustainability management systems.
In recognition of this commitment, RINA presented a commemorative plaque to I Saloni Nautici, the operational subsidiary of Confindustria Nautica (the Italian Marine Industry Association), during the 66th Genoa International Boat Show, acknowledging the organisation’s efforts to integrate ISO 20121 principles throughout the planning and management of the event.

The recognition highlights the ongoing efforts of Confindustria Nautica and I Saloni Nautici to embed environmental, social and economic sustainability into the organisation of the Show. This commitment is supported by a structured management approach centred on accountability, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement.
At the heart of this strategy is the Sustainable Events Policy and Statement of Intent and Values, which outlines the organisations’ objectives and commitments to responsible event management, in alignment with Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles and the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The Genoa International Boat Show’s sustainability strategy encompasses a broad range of initiatives, including energy efficiency, low-impact mobility, responsible sourcing and materials management, waste reduction and marine environmental protection. The strategy also places strong emphasis on social responsibility, inclusion and the active engagement of suppliers, stand contractors, exhibitors and other stakeholders.
By encouraging collaboration across the event’s entire supply chain, the Show aims to foster responsible practices, strengthen shared accountability and promote a lasting culture of sustainability within the international boating industry.

Piero Formenti, President of Confindustria Nautica and President and CEO of I Saloni Nautici, commented: “RINA’s recognition reflects our determination to make sustainability an integral part of the Genoa International Boat Show. Our event is a global benchmark for the boating industry and, as such, has a responsibility to promote organisational models that combine growth and innovation with attention to environmental and social impacts. Applying ISO 20121 strengthens this strategic vision, translating sustainability principles into practical management criteria and a responsibility shared by all stakeholders in the supply chain.”
The Show’s commitment to sustainability forms an integral part of its broader mission as a leading international platform for business, innovation and boating culture. By showcasing the excellence of Italy’s marine industry while advancing environmentally and socially responsible practices, the Genoa International Boat Show continues to reinforce its role in shaping a more sustainable future for the sector.
The plaque presented by RINA during the 66th edition represents a further acknowledgment of this long-term commitment. It also underscores the Show’s ambition to continuously enhance its sustainability management framework, establish responsible event practices and encourage the adoption of sustainable solutions across the wider boating industry.
Through this ongoing approach, Confindustria Nautica and I Saloni Nautici reaffirm their commitment to positioning the Genoa International Boat Show as a benchmark for responsible event management, demonstrating how innovation, industry growth and sustainability can advance together.
