TANKOA YACHTS LAUNCHES 52M VITRUVIUS M/Y SPIRIT
Italian shipyard Tankoa Yachts has marked another milestone with the launch of its latest superyacht, the 52-metre T52 Vitruvius, M/Y Spirit.
The launch ceremony took place at the Tankoa Yachts shipyard in Genoa on Saturday, 11 July, where Spirit officially entered the water in the presence of her Owners, invited guests, Tankoa management and the dedicated team responsible for bringing the project to life.
Following maritime tradition, the event included the blessing of the yacht and the ceremonial christening by her godmother, before celebrations continued at the shipyard with a special reception.
Reflecting Tankoa Yachts’ reputation as a boutique builder, Spirit is a fully custom yacht developed to fulfil her Owner’s unique vision. The Owner selected Tankoa to realise a bespoke Vitruvius-designed concept, recognising the shipyard’s expertise in delivering highly personalised projects without compromise.

Naval architecture and exterior styling have been created by Vitruvius Yacht Design under the direction of Philippe Briand and Veerle Battiau, while the interiors have been designed by Italian studio FM Architettura. Together, they have developed a yacht centred on a contemporary vision of luxury, prioritising wellbeing, privacy and an effortless connection to the sea.
Spirit accommodates up to 12 guests across six luxurious staterooms, while accommodation for a crew of nine is arranged across five cabins. Throughout the yacht, the design focuses on maximising natural light, creating uninterrupted sightlines and seamlessly connecting the interior spaces with the surrounding environment.
The yacht’s bright and airy atmosphere is enhanced by a glazed stern door that opens in two sections, framed by fixed glass panels, together with full-height glazing running along both sides of the yacht. These expansive windows provide uninterrupted panoramic views whether cruising or at anchor, with the side terraces either deployed or closed.
One of Spirit’s standout features is her wellness-inspired beach club, centred around a generously sized gym and spa that remains fully usable while underway. Opening directly onto a spacious aft terrace, the area creates a seamless transition between fitness, relaxation and the sea.
A plunge pool at the stern, complemented by fold-down side platforms, further enriches the experience, allowing owners and guests to move effortlessly between exercise, wellness treatments and swimming.
The interior design complements the yacht’s architecture through a carefully curated selection of natural materials, soft textures and understated finishes. Every element has been chosen to create a tranquil atmosphere where natural light, generous volumes and uninterrupted sea views define the onboard lifestyle.
Powered to reach a maximum speed of 17 knots with a comfortable cruising speed of 15 knots, Spirit also benefits from specialist noise and vibration consultancy by van Cappellen Consultancy, ensuring exceptional onboard comfort in all operating conditions.
During both the engineering and construction phases, Tankoa Yachts carried out extensive optimisation studies covering the hull form, weight distribution and overall yacht dynamics to maximise performance and efficiency. Spirit is fitted with a full hybrid propulsion system supplied by E-motion, integrating conventional engines with electric motors and battery technology.
Commenting on the occasion, Tankoa CEO Vincenzo Poerio said: “A launch is always such a special moment. It is the culmination of many years of hard work, and it is a privilege to share this experience, and all of the emotions associated with it, with our clients and everyone involved in her construction. Spirit perfectly demonstrates Tankoa’s ability to transform an ambitious, highly bespoke vision into reality through exceptional craftsmanship and close collaboration with both the Owner, his design team and our team.”
Spirit has now entered the final stage of her build programme, with sea trials and technical testing currently underway ahead of her delivery to the Owner.
