HP Watermakers Maldives Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of HP Watermakers Srl, has been operating in the Maldives since 2015. The agreement with Marine Equipment Pvt Ltd expands its sales network in the tropical country’s atolls.
The new organisation will offer a wide range of desalinators and assistance services to the local nautical market and to the yachts sailing in the Indian Ocean.
In the 26 atolls that tourists from all over the world dream about, the desalination of marine waters is at the heart of the islands’ complex and delicate ecosystem. HP Watermakers has been carefully looking at this aspect for some time, since it established HP Watermakers Maldives Pvt in Malé with a local partner in2015. At the time, the goal was to provide a professional and cutting-edge answer to the demand for drinking water, not only for boating, but also for the many resorts on the islands.“The Maldives are a huge catchment area for desalination systems,”explains Gianni Zucco, co-founder ofHP Watermakers.“In terms of boating alone, there are over 1,200 ‘Safari Boats’ sailing there, mostly locally built boats that take tourists around on what are almost always day trips. In view of this, it is easy to understand why it was a priority to strengthen our commercial and assistance network aimed at the nautical world. The agreement with Marine Equipment goes precisely in this direction.

In addition to the well-proven efficiency and reliability of HP Watermakers desalinators, everything revolves around the figure of an important local tycoon Mr. Hamid Ismail which is a prominent Maldivian businessman with extensive investments across tourism, marine services, technology, and construction. He began his career in 1989 with Souvenir Shop, later expanding into various industries. He is best known as the Maldivian partner of Gulf Craft Maldives, playing a key role in its success. His ventures includeSouvenir Marine and MCM, the country’s largest luxury boat charter fleet, as well as Marine Equipments showroom, Marine Master Boatyard(Boat Manufacture). A former President of the Maldivian NationalChamber of Commerce and Industries (MNCCI), Mr. Hamid is also deeply involved in philanthropy, supporting education, healthcare, and social welfare in the Maldives. Hamid Ismail is the local partner ofHP Watermakers Maldives and the person who was most keen on the agreement with Marine Equipment.The goal is to further strengthen the commercial and assistance network to fully exploit the considerable potential that efficient desalination can guarantee. The strengths of HP Watermakers desalinators produced in Italy are well known, starting from their complete automation guaranteed by the RP Tronic system, which offers a considerable advantage over manual desalinators. The RP Tronic system eliminates the need for continuous pressure adjustments in the engine room to adapt to fluctuations in salinity and water temperature. But, above all, these desalinators perform an effective rinse at the end of the cycle with the valve fully open, thus making it unnecessary to chemically wash the membranes to remove accumulated salt
