PANERAI SHINES IN GOLDTECH: INTRODUCING ITS PRECIOUS METAL INTO THE LUMINOR QUARANTA BITEMPO SERIES
Encapsulating the balance between heritage and modern innovation to meet the modernday client’s needs, the Luminor Quaranta collection captures the beloved aesthetic of the Luminor collection in a smaller case dimension. The new Luminor Quaranta™ BiTempo Goldtech PAM01641 expands the collection, featuring the GMT function in a precious material case.
Panerai Goldtech™ is a gold material developed by the Maison that includes a combination of platinum and copper, giving an intense red appearance and resistance to tarnishing that extends the timepiece’s lifetime. Under the hood of the 40mm brushed Panerai Goldtech™ case, the Luminor Quaranta™ BiTempo is powered by the automatic P.900/ GMT, a caliber renowned for its reliability with a 3-day power reserve. The P.900 is an automatic caliber that integrates expansive function within the confines of remarkably streamlined proportions. Measuring 12½ lignes (28mm) in diameter and only 4.2 mm thick, the movement is among the slimmest automatic calibers in the Panerai portfolio. The energy necessary to accumulate a power reserve of three days is delivered by a bidirectional oscillating weight and stored in a single barrel. Its balance wheel, oscillating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, is securely fixed in position by a balance cock. The caliber is equipped with a stop-second function that enables precise time setting. Its GMT complication with a 12-hour display is a return to the Maison’s heritage, echoing some of the earliest models developed in the early 2000s. This feature adds a new dimension to the watch’s usability, especially for those who track multiple time zones.
The tip of the GMT hand is gilded in blue that illuminates in low-light conditions, enhancing the watch’s legibility and aesthetic appeal. This is complemented by a larger, more prominent date display for enhanced readability. Reflecting Panerai’s commitment to maintaining continuity with its rich history, the timepiece also features a discrete minuterie inspired by early 2000s watches, along with distinctive elements that define the Luminor line, such as the cushion-shaped case and the signature crown-protecting bridge, ensuring water resistance of up to 10 bar (~100 meters). The ‘BiTempo’ inscription, meaning “dual time” in Italian, at 6 o’clock accentuates the Maison’s Italian roots.
The new reference features a sun-brushed black sandwich dial with white SuperLumiNova® for clear visibility and a see-through sapphire crystal and Panerai Goldtech™ case back, providing a glimpse into the watch’s intricate workings. The strap is crafted from black alligator leather with T/T stitching, with a brushed Panerai Goldtech™ trapezoidal buckle, and the PAM Click Release System™ allows for easy switching with the timepiece’s second black rubber strap.
