The superyacht Captains’ forum at YARE 2018
The new format of The Superyacht Captains’ Forum as part of the Yachting, After sales and Refit Experience (YARE) taking place 18th – 21st April 2018, will be a dynamic conversation of topics focusing on the refit, repair and after sales market.
The candid conversations between superyacht captains, chief engineers; yacht managers; owner reps; and surveyors will reflect the trends and issues taking place in the refit sector. Discussions will lead the industry to create a collaborative range of solutions applicable for the industry, and to produce a leading White Paper publication on the ‘Perfect Refit Process’.
For the first time YARE will be held in Darsena, the heart of Viareggio’s nautical district, becoming the setting of the event with its shipyards and associated companies. The participating shipyards, Lusben, Perini Navi, together with Club Nautico, will host innovative and dynamic workshops throughout the event.
Martin H. Redmayne, Chairman of The Superyacht Group, will open The Superyacht Captains’ Forum at Lusben, one of the leading European shipyards on refit & repair projects for luxury yachts. Redmayne, in his opening address will offer an analysis on the current state of the refit and new build market.
Following this, delegates consisting of Captains, Yacht Managers and the companies, will be divided into three teams for three interactive and dynamic workshops. The teams will attend designated workshops located in participating shipyards; Lusben with its unique paint shed; Perini Navi, famous for its beautiful yachts and Club Nautico Versilia, a historical institution in the city.
The workshops will cover topics such as, planning for refit for a medium to large yacht; evaluating contracts and agreements; comparisons and estimations; choosing the right supplier; monitor work programs; face tests; treat disputes and penalties, focusing on the role of Captains, Crew, Project Managers and Surveyors. The ideas, contributions and solutions provided by the mix of experts (Shipyards, Subcontractors, Suppliers, Captains, Managers and Owner Representatives) will be collected and will form the White Book on the “Perfect Refit Process”, endorsed by Navigo and YARE, published in The Superyacht Report.
The day will conclude with a ceremony for 12 young refit students who have completed a Refit Degree and the recognition of the mentors in the ISYL Foundation, a technical institute of higher professional training.
YARE is organized and promoted by NAVIGO, service center for innovation and development of the nautical sector.
Over the four-days of YARE, the event will create business meetings and in-depth discussions into the superyacht market.
The third day of YARE, 20th April, focuses on the B2C meetings (Meet the Captain) which is the ‘heart’ of YARE consisting of face-to-face meetings between Captains and attending companies.
