Uncontaminated nature, a boutique design house with a unique feel 100 meters above sea level and ten kilometers from the Conero with a 360° view, a rooftop over the hills of the Marche, a window on your bestdawns and sunsets. Near Osimo, the Commenda is a ‘buenritiro’ that respects it’s medieval history, thesame history that earned the Commenda it’s certification by the Italian Residenzad’Epoca on-line portal.
Here English & Americans visitors have rediscovered the fascination of their famous countryside, but in a newand different area. An alternative to the often visited Tuscany or the reassuring vacations in the sun in Sicilyand Sardinia: here the sea is always blue, but less well known. At just a few kilometers from the Commenda, easily reached by bicycle, soars the Conero, boasting the most beautiful coast along the Adriatic, with thewhite sands of the Due Sorelle and the Gabbiani.
The Commenda is an oasis to relax in, far from the crowded tourist itineraries, but just a few minutes fromeverything. From the natural beauty of the Frasassi Caverns and mystical Loreto with it’s pilgrims, to the seaand the mountains. A location where you can fully enjoy the varied countryside that only Italy can give you.
The Commenda is also an ideal trampoline to launch yourself on a tour of the wine cellars, down the roads ofthe Marche dedicated to local wine and flavors, where you discover the local foods: olive oil, unsalted bread, ciauscolo salami, crescia cheese and the cheeses offered by Trionfi & Honorati.
This boutique design house is the perfect starting point to discover the flavor of the surrounding countryside.Only products grown within 20 kilometers of La Commenda are used, accompanied by local wines: the Verdicchio Santa Barbara, the red Conero reserve La Calcinara, the red still wine Le Terrazze, and theslightly sparkling Verdicchio Monte Capppone.
But La Commenda also offers you theoccasion to relive a piece of history and go back in time to the medieval era. The structures were once a small Templar fort in the 14th century, surrounded by 400 hectaresof grounds that held a hospital, a refectory and a house of worship. Food and medicine were brought to thefort by river, on barges that ran up the Musone River towards the port of Numana. Where there once werewars and tales from past centuries, now there is an arbor and swimming pool immersed in the greencountryside, complete with a conference hall or, if needed, a think tank.
Today the property is owned by the Pugnetti-Laude family, who acquired it fifteen years ago from the Counts Beleani Baldeschi of Jesi. A complete restoration, fully respecting local traditions, has returned the countryhouse to it’s original splendor. The walls give off the singular warmth of exposed bricks, enlivened by amodern and avant-garde touch.
The interiors aretruly surprising, the boutique design house is filled with chosen furniture enriched withpieces of exclusive design exhibited in modern art museums around the world.
At the Commenda, attention is paid to each individual detail, beginning with the “a l’ancienne” breakfast, to the aperitif on the patio at sunsetLa Commenda feature nine suites, seven on the second floor and two on the third, all with spaciousbathrooms and a view of the lush countryside that surrounds the house, each room different from the others.May we suggest the Silver Suite for sunrise lovers, and the Suite N°2, with it’s view of the centuries old oliveg rove.
Beginning in the second half of 2016, La Commenda will also feature a feature filled spa; a rarity in the greencountry side of the Marche.
The therapeutic nature of the area still exists, and is still popular: over the years the therapeutic properties of the territory have always been studied. La Commenda is also classified as one of Italy’s magical locations, producing positive energies, well being and transcendental contacts.
This year La Commenda has become child friendly and also accepts the presence of small pets of up to fivekilos.
