IWC SCHAFFHAUSEN CONGRATULATES MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS FORMULA ONE™ TEAM
For the second year in succession, the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team has won the Formula One Constructors’ World Championship*. IWC Schaffhausen has been the “Official Engineering Partner” of the team since 2013 and offers its warmest congratulations on the occasion of this fantastic team achievement. In addition, the Swiss watch manufacturer applauds MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS driver and IWC Brand Ambassadors, Lewis Hamilton, who has also repeated his success of last season and emerged as the Formula One World Champion for the third time, and Nico Rosberg, whose outstanding performance throughout the year brought him to the second place on the podium.
Like Mercedes’ Formula One race cars, mechanical watches are masterpieces of engineering, packed with innovative technology and high-tech materials. It is the parallels between motorsport and haute horlogerie that cement the partnership between IWC Schaffhausen and MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS. “The success of the Mercedes F1 W06 Hybrid was only possible thanks to an outstanding team performance of the kind that we deliver every day in the development of our mechanical timepieces. And for that reason we congratulate our partners, and also our Brand Ambassador Lewis Hamilton, on this historic achievement,” said Thomas Gäumann, Head of In-House Movement Development at IWC Schaffhausen.
ENGINEERING AND TEAM WORK ARE THE RECIPE FOR SUCCESS
This season, as in 2014, the Silver Arrows have been the benchmark team in Formula One. “It has been incredibly difficult to sustain the same high standards of performance for a second season in succession. We had to focus on minute details at every stage of our operation, aggressively drive the evolution of our engineering and endeavour to make our work in Brackley and Brixworth as close to flawless as possible. As our team partner IWC Schaffhausen knows only too well, success in Formula One is a matter of thousandths of a second,” commented Toto Wolff, Head of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport. Both partners are looking forward to the next actionpacked season that gets off to a start at the Formula One Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on 17 March 2016.
