Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design presents SYMMETRY
Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design presents SYMMETRY
At this year’s edition of the Monaco Yacht Show, Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design presented Symmetry, a bi-directional maneuverable concept yacht. Symmetry’s revolutionary design works from the center outwards, which has enormous advantages over a traditional linear set up. The strikingly spacious, well balanced and symmetrical built up is a showcase of the next step in megayacht design. Symmetry was the most developed, detailed and designed concept yacht presented at MYS 2015.
Symmetry: symmetrically built up from the center
Symmetry’s unique layout transcends traditional boundaries in yacht design. To designer Sander Sinot of Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design, the use of symmetry is a way to transform traditional yacht design: “The yacht’s layout is created by symmetrically building up from the center, instead of using the traditional linear set up. Functions on the decks are organized around the central void with an intuitive logic. The symmetrical shape of the hull allows for a bi-directional course at sea, tight maneuvers and pivoting, ensuring comfortable tender transfers on the lee side of the lower deck’s mid-ship Beach Lounge.”
Owner-centered philosophy
Symmetry is based on harmony, not on formal symmetry. Sander Sinot: “It was our aim to create a synergetic balance of functionality, beauty, engineering and design. Symmetry reflects a genuine owner-centered philosophy of the yacht as a custom-designed private estate, moving freely over the world’s oceans, offering an abundance of space to welcome beloved ones to indulge, work, play and enjoy life.”
Space and balance
Thanks to the symmetrical set up and the symmetrical shape of the hull, Symmetry can accommodate the owner and his guests in a way that is rarely shown in megayacht-design. Symmetry’s six decks and 180m length at a beam of 29m provides an interior space volume of over 18000 GT and an exterior deck space of over 1000m2. The yacht has a capacity of 34 guests and 48 crew. Every deck has a specific function and character. The Beach Deck with a mid-ship beach lounge featuring a seawater pool / float in tender bay; the Guest Deck with a spectacular mid-ship pool with a glass bottom, multiple spacious VIP rooms with en-suite lounges and balconies. The Hotel Deck contains many guest facilities such as an extensive spa, dining, lounges, bars, garden, gym and a 17m+ exterior pool. The Wheelhouse has dual steering arrangements to accommodate bi-directional maneuverability; the Lower Deck contains a home theatre and a kids’ playroom. And, last but not least, the Owner-Exclusive Deck where the owner state room, private spa, office, library, sky lounge and exterior deck with lounge seats and infinity water feature are located.
Technical feasibility
Symmetry offers exciting new opportunities for the design of both interior and exterior. Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design developed a 3D model of the yacht and shared this with the naval architects of BMT Nigel Gee who delivered support in development and confirmed technical feasibility. Based on their detailed input, Sander Sinot and his design team further developed the 3D design of this both technically and aesthetically innovative project.
