MURIYA LAUNCHES Floating Fuel Station
Muriya, Oman’s leading tourism development company, recently opened a floating fuel station at Jebel Sifah designed to provide a refuelling location for boats and yachts. The station adds a new facet to the 84-berth marina by allowing residents to fill up onsite, while encouraging passing boats to enter Jebel Sifah and explore the growing array of dining, retail and accommodation options.
Marko Randjelovic, Marina Manager at Muriya’s Jebel Sifah destination, said, “The floating fuel station is an important new amenity in the ongoing development of Jebel Sifah that delivers fuel directly to residents and to boaters around the area. The new addition will help position our destination as a strategic stopping point for boats to explore nearby dive sites located along the scenic coastline. By expanding our hospitality and leisure propositions on land and adding the extra dimension of convenience at sea, we encourage visitors to discover the Jebel Sifah destination as it transforms into a bustling town where residents and guests can tour the vibrant boardwalk and experience the unique natural beauty.”
The station is operated in partnership with Al Maha Petroleum and is equipped with two 50,000 litre tanks providing both diesel and Petrol fuel. In addition, it has been engineered as a stable platform with a 24 metre long pontoon and 12 metre long gangway to help boat owners overcome the challenge of refuelling during changing tides. Muriya’s next step in the on-going development of the marina is to offer boat owners an added service of carrying out boat repairs within the destination with the upcoming addition of a maintenance and workshop facility.
