Young Designer of the Year finalist
Juan Ortiz Rincon is pleased to present his project Anaconda, for which he was selected as Young Designer of the Year Finalist during the 2013 ShowBoats Design Awards at Monaco. The goal of this year’s Young Designer category was to create a modern, non-commercial looking 65m-explorer yacht.
Anaconda is designed for setting off on worldwide adventures and travelling in a relaxed way to the most remote destinations without sacrificing any comforts of a superyacht lifestyle.
The exterior design of Anaconda reflects speed, dynamism and motion. The orientation of the superstructure towards the aft part of the yacht creates a large outdoor living zone on the forward part. This zone provides comfortable and cosy dining, lounging and sunbathing areas, protected from the wind and the waves and at the same time open to the surrounding environment. Folding balconies create additional lounging areas and breathtaking views overlooking the sea. A special highlight is the hot air balloon departure on the foremost part of the yacht.
The sleek lines and pure shapes of Anaconda form a clear outline, which is easily recognizable and gives the yacht a radical, individual and masculine character. The architectural approach of using large glass elements and organic structures floods the interior areas with luminosity and creates an exciting conjunction between interior and exterior zones, offering much more usable space than other yachts of the same range.
The contemporary interior style of Anaconda, with its clear lines and open, luminous spaces, reflects perfectly the exterior design. Panoramic windows and skylights create a direct link between inside and outside areas, always recalling the surrounding sea. The Owner’s Cabin for example features a skylight above the bed for shooting star watching and an inside-outside private Jacuzzi to use in any weather conditions. The Owner’s Area, which is extended over two decks, includes as well an Exterior Starlight Observation Lounge and a Lounge and Study with private terrace.
The material concept is based on warm, natural colours and textures (such as white oak, honey onyx, black lip mother of pearl and coconut mosaics) combined with contemporary materials (such as glass, stainless steel, translucent bamboo resin panels and artificial reptile leather). A special focus lies on illumination and the integration of modern art objects. The interior style has a masculine character, providing a fresh and relaxed atmosphere.
The interior layout with its rather unusual configuration is thought to profit at the most from the available space by connecting the living zones in logical orders and forming multi-purpose areas where appropriate. The Day Salon for example, located on the Main Deck Aft, converts at night time into the Cinema. Nearby you can find the Beach Club, which offers a transparent glass Jacuzzi with integrated Beach Bar, naturally illuminated from the skylight above. Two terraces on the sea create a unique place for watersport observation, as well as an easy access to the water for tender boarding and any shore expedition departure. A Diving Store and Preparation Room is an additional highlight of this watersports area.
The Main Salon on the Upper Deck Fwd, including a Fireplace Lounge, connects with the large Fwd Exterior Living Area. It provides a Teppanyaki Show Cooking and BBQ Bar, where you can also enjoy a sundowner cocktail in the evening hours before moving on to the Discotheque one deck below. This multifunctional area becomes during the night time a unique party zone with a special Disco Bar and a large dance floor, having with the Disco Lobby as well a direct access to the Guest Area on the Main Deck, the heart of the public areas. During the day the Disco serves as one of the Tender Garages, keeping water toys like for example the Deep flight Super Falcon submarine, a 7-meters sports tender and an 8-meters exploration tender.
On the Lower Deck Anaconda offers a Wellness and Health Spa with massage rooms, hairdresser, sauna, float tub and gym; rounding off the super yacht experience on board. Juan Ortiz Rincon is a 23-year-old Colombian Industrial Design student at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. He is a passionate sailor and traveller: “Ever since I was a child, I have had a great deal of curiosity about the charms and mysteries of the oceans and the vessels that sail it,” explains Ortiz Rincon. “This curiosity, over the years has turned into a passion for sailing and yacht design. I am particularly fascinated with the study and exploration of human factors, technologies and morphologies, which, applied to objects and spaces, generate a more efficient use of resources and maximize the comfort.”
