WIDER 150 ‘Bartali’ delivered to Canadian owner

Wider announced today that the multi award winning WIDER 150, recently christened M/Y ‘Bartali’, has been delivered to her new Canadian owner. Built entirely in aluminium, she has exterior styling by Fulvio De Simoni and a contemporary interior by La Spezia based designers, IdeaeItalia, working together with the WIDER in-house design team.
Having completed works at the Ancona based shipyard to customize the yacht to her new owner’s specific wishes, including the addition of a new walk-in-wardrobe in the master stateroom and changes to the galley, ‘Bartali’ will be heading off to the Cote D’Azur where her new owners plan to move aboard for the season.
“This is a significant milestone in the history of the shipyard. The WIDER 150 represents a number of firsts both to us and the yachting industry as a whole. We believe the Diesel Electric propulsion system installed on board – the first time this has been done on a yacht of this size – is the future of yachting. The multiple benefits this system offers clients, among them low noise and vibration but equally the reduced carbon footprint thanks to her remarkable fuel efficiency is increasingly appealing to customers,” said Michael Hackman, Executive Vice President – Marine Operations with Genting Hong Kong and interim Chairman of WIDER. “The automotive market has transformed client’s outlook, a growing segment of the market is looking for increasingly green solutions.”
The elegant silhouette of the WIDER 150 includes a 90sqm beach club with swimming pool, which also serves as the garage for a tender of up to 10m – unique among yachts of this size – and an incredible 75sqm master stateroom. Thanks to the Diesel Electric propulsion system, combined with azimuthal pods, the yacht can run in near silence using only her batteries. This has resulted in unprecedented levels of interest from prospective clients and a collection of awards from the most prestigious organizations, including the World Superyacht Awards, World Yachts Trophy, Showboats Design Awards and MYS/RINA.
At the shipyard, work continues with the construction of the WIDER 165, project ‘Cecilia’. She includes the same Diesel Electric propulsion system – a constant feature across the WIDER range of yachts from 125’ – installed on her smaller sibling and remains on schedule to be launched in Q1 of 2018. WIDER remains in discussion with a number of interested clients about the sale of “Cecilia” as well as for other future projects. The WIDER 165 is listed for sale priced at 30m euro.
