Longines precision timing

For the second consecutive year, Thierry Jarnet on Trêve gave an outstanding performance to take home the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe on Sunday 5th October. Longines was the Official Timekeeper and Partner of this legendary race for the fourth year. A partner of national horseracing authority France Galop and the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club, the Swiss watchmaker also presented another French top-level international race on the same day: the Prix de l’Opéra Longines, won also by Thierry Jarnet on We Are. The Official Watch of the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe 2014 was a steel chronograph from the Conquest Classic collection, a line of timepieces dedicated to Longines’ passion for horseracing.

On Sunday, 5 October 2014, the large crowds that flocked to the Longchamp Racecourse for an outstanding day of racing watched with bated breath as, for the second consecutive year, Thierry Jarnet on Trêve was the first across the finish line to carry off the 2,400-metre Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. Longines thus made its timekeeping expertise available for the 93rd edition of this legendary race. It is a resounding achievement for Trêve after an exceptional 2013 year during which she finished at the first place of the Longines World’s Best Racehorse Ranking.

The Swiss watch brand also presented on the same day another French top-level international race, the Prix de l’Opéra Longines, which was won by, again, Thierry Jarnet, but this time on We Are at a time of 2’02’’33.

As a result of its partnership with France Galop, Longines is the Official Timekeeper of the Chantilly, Deauville and Longchamp racecourses, in addition to being the Title Partner of the Longines Prix de Diane race. The Swiss watch brand is also the partner of the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club.

This year’s Official Watch for the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe was a steel chronograph from the Conquest Classic collection, a line of timepieces dedicated to Longines’ passion for horseracing. With a diameter of 41mm, this timepiece is equipped with an exclusive column wheel movement. Its black dial, with one Arabic numeral and eleven applied indexes all coated with Super-LumiNova®, displays the hours and minutes, with small seconds at 9 o’clock, a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock, and the date display at 4:30. Just like the entire Conquest Classic collection, the watch is water-resistant to 5 bar and its screwed-down case-back is equipped with a sapphire crystal.
