VACHERON CONSTANTIN AND THE EUROPEAN ARTISTIC CRAFTS DAYS: SHARED VALUES

Through its support of this initiative, Vacheron Constantin has once again reaffirmed its determination to safeguard, transmit and promote heritage with which it has been inextricably linked for 260 years.

In partnership with the French National institute of Artistic Crafts (INMA), the Manufacture was thus delighted to support the “Mutations” exhibition to be held at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris and the “Intrecci” exhibition at the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum in Milan, in partnership with the Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte.
The Manufacture invited visitors to meet its craftsmen at its historic Maison in the heart of Geneva.

JEMA PARIS:
INAUGURATION OF THE “MUTATIONS” EXHIBITION AT THE MUSEUM OF DECORATIVE ARTS
AND PREVIEW OF THE NEW COLLECTION MÉTIERS D’ART SAVOIRS ENLUMINÉS

On Thursday March 26th, on the occasion of the launch of the European Artistic Crafts Days, Vacheron Constantin presented the “Mutations” Exhibition at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris in partnership with the French National institute of Artistic Crafts (INMA).

The opening was attended by Fleur Pellerin, Minister of Culture and Communication, at the Museum of Decorative Arts alongside Juan Carlos Torres, CEO, Vacheron Constantin; Gérard Desquand, President, French National institute of Artistic Crafts (INMA); Bruno Roger, President, Museum of Decorative Arts; and Serge Nicole, President of the French Ateliers d’Art.

Using a selection of emblematic objects from the Museum, collectives of artists and craftsmen were asked to revisit their technical repertoire of forms and materials in order to create a specific work.
The “Mutations” exhibition, which will be on display until July 5th 2015, is a perspective of nine objects resulting from this project which are exhibited opposite the historical pieces which inspired them.

During this evening, guests were also given an opportunity of a preview of the Manufacture’s new collection titled Métiers d’Art Savoirs Enluminés and inspired by the illuminations of the Aberdeen Bestiary. This is a perfect illustration of the joint work of Vacheron Constantin craftsmen, whose talents meet and mingle in creating to the exceptional Métiers d’Art dials.

JEMA GENEVA:
UNPRECEDENTED OPENING OF THE MAISON VACHERON CONSTANTIN,
SKILLS DEMONSTRATION AND
“THE CHRONOGRAPH THROUGH TIME” EXHIBITION

Following the city of Geneva in 2012, and Canton Vaud in 2014, this year was the Republic and Canton of Jura’s turn to join the European Artistic Crafts Days, of which Vacheron Constantin has been a patron since the very first edition.
On Friday March 27th, within the framework of this 2015 event, Vacheron Constantin had the pleasure of holding the first-ever public open day at the place where its history was made: the Maison Vacheron Constantin en l’Ile in Geneva.
Juan-Carlos Torres, CEO, Vacheron Constantin, welcomed guests side by side with authorities from the three partner cantons: Sami Kanaan, Mayor of Geneva, Thierry Hogan, Deputy Secretary-General of the Department of Training, Youth and Culture of the Canton of Vaud and Olivier Tschopp, Head of Department for Secondary II and Tertiary level Training of the Republic and Canton of Jura.

Three craftsmen from the Maison – a gem-setter, a master engraver and a master watchmaker – shared their art and skill with the guests, illustrating their impressive dexterity through the demonstrations.
This unique occasion also provided an opportunity to discover “The Chronograph Through Time” exhibition, dedicated to the history of measuring short time periods, and to take a trip through more than two centuries of watchmaking excellence.

No fewer than 900 visitors thus enjoyed the benefit of these three open days at this historic venue, meeting craftsmen and discovering the exhibition.

JEMA MILAN:
“INTRECCI. PERSONE, LUOGHI E PIANTE DELLA CESTERIA ITALIANA” EXHIBITION
AT THE BAGATTI VALSECCHI MUSEUM

On Friday March 27th, accompanied by the Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte, Vacheron Constantin welcomed visitors to the Milan edition of the JEMA at the prestigious Bagatti Valsecchi Museum.
Marco Pagani, CEO, Vacheron Constantin Italy, Alberto Cavalli, Director of the Fondazione Cologni, Domenico Rocca and Alberto Nespoli from Segno Italiano, creators of the concept, inaugurated the “Intrecci Persone, luoghi e piante della cesteria italiana” exhibition (Weaving. The People, Places and Plants of Italian Basket-Making), a tribute to one of the most ancestral, noble artistic crafts in Italian tradition.

The exhibition revisits the art of traditional weaving through the work of young architects from “Segno Italiano” whose mission is to promote exceptional skill in the realm of design.
Impressive totem poles made of handmade baskets and constructed from prestigious weaving with willow, wicker and cane took visitors into another dimension, inspired by contemporary and symbolic design.
Guided by an informative, innovative itinerary, combining multimedia and visuals, a large number of representatives from Milanese culture explored the suggestive halls of the Museum and were captivated by this fascinating technique which straddles tradition and modernity.
