QIBS Receives International Accreditation

QIBS Receives International Accreditation from World Exhibition Industry
The Qatar International Boat Show has been granted the status of “UFI Approved Event”, making it the first ever approved event to be held in Qatar as a member of UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry. At the same time, Snowcomms – the organisers of the Qatar International Boat Show – has been approved as a full member of UFI in the category of “Exhibition Organisers”.
The 90-year-old Union of International Fairs (UFI) is the world’s leading association of trade fair organizers that aims to serve the world’s exhibition industry and promote the unique value of trade fairs. It was originally set up to develop cooperation among European international trade fairs in order to revitalise international commerce after World War I.
Full membership of UFI, which currently has 650 members from 85 countries, allows direct access to a wide range of services and information, a strengthening of relationships with other members, and special opportunities to experience UFI through various educational programmes and seminars.
Commenting on the accreditation, Faysal Mikati, CEO & Founder of Doha-based Snowcomms said he would particularly like to extend his thanks to the Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) who introduced Snowcomms to UFI by hosting a workshop for the industry that discussed rules and regulations which would now apply to all exhibitions being held in Qatar. Other discussions covered the close link between the exhibition industry and business tourism in Qatar, particularly the focus on MICE events that attract significant business to the country.
“Not only is Qatar a world class business hub, where visitors can enjoy some of the finest hospitality in the world, but the country has also taken its place on the world stage by hosting global sporting and leisure events, such as the Qatar International Boat Show,” Mikati said. “We are delighted to have received this accreditation from the UFI which will surely add yet more prestige to the third edition of QIBS which is due to be held from 10th to 14th November at Mourjan Marinas in Lusail City.”
